Rapper and singer-songwriter Amine has announced the release date of his upcoming studio album ‘Limbo’, which is set to arrive on August 7. Along with the announcement comes a new single on July 6, titled 'Compensating', for a preview of the record. Listen to it below.

"Compensatin’ for your feelings. And you know the feelin’. This is what you thought would heal it. But it makes you feel it. Tryin’ things you thought would cheer it. But you grow to fear it. Times, they come and go like spirits. I see these signs the clearest," sings Amine over alternative hip-hop, trap-esque beat. The new track also features rapping from Young Thug and was produced by Canada's T-Minus.

'Compensating' is Amine's second collaborative effort in 2020. It follows Disclosure's 'My High', which featured both Amine and UK rapper Slowthai. Disclosure described their experience working with Amine in a statement. “Writing ‘My High’ with Amine was a lot a fun,” they said, according to NME, adding, “He’s hilarious and may as well be a comedian. He writes so quickly and it’s amazing to watch.”

Amine spoke about his upcoming 'Limbo' album in a 2019 interview with Bandwagon. “It’s something I’m really proud of and something I’ve been putting a lot of effort into for the past two years,” he said. “I haven’t really gone this in-depth with my music in a while, so it feels good," Amine added. At the time, he also spoke about his urge to just put out good music without a focus on being in the spotlight. "Not that I'm not inspired now, but I just miss being super duper hungry – y'know, for all this that I have today. But nowadays it's more so I just want to make music that I love – not for attention," he said.

The rapper's upcoming record will feature his recent tracks ‘Shimmy’ and ‘RiRi’. The LP follows his 2018 album ‘OnePointFive’.

Amine is the son of Ethiopian immigrants who immigrated to the United States in the early 1990s. He musical career began with the release of his debut mixtape, 'Odyssey to Me', which released in 2014. He is also an outspoken critic of President Donald Trump.

After his television debut on 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon' in 2016 when he performed a remixed version of his single 'Caroline', Amine added a verse dedicated to the results of the 2016 United States presidential election with the lines: "9/11, a day that we're never forgettin'. 11/9, a day that we're all regrettin'. If my president is Trump then it's relevant enough. To talk 'bout it on TV and not give a... I'm Black, and I'm proud. My skin is brown and I'm loud. Everybody love it when a rapper tells some lies. Well that ain't me, homie, I guess that's a surprise. America wanna act all happy and holy. But deep down inside they're like Brad and Jolie. Caroline divine and I won't get specific. Club Banana the illest and it's too terrific. You can never make America great again. All you ever did was make this country hate again."

Amine first rose to prominence with ‘Caroline’, a song which soon saw him sign with Republic Records. He has released two studio albums since then and also featured on the critically-acclaimed soundtrack to 'Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse'.
