'Code 404': Meet Daniel Mays, Stephen Graham, Rosie Cavaliero and rest of the cast of Peacock sci-fi dramedy
Peacock's latest addition to its slate of British shows, 'Code 404', is straight out of a Black Mirror fanatic's dream. Infusing the concepts of death, science, coming back to life and AI robots, the show narrates the story of DI John Major who was mysteriously resurrected as a robot after losing his life on the job. But unlike the story of 'Brought Back to Life' from the sci-fi the anthology thriller's second season, John Major isn't just a bodysuit - he is back to life with all his humor and memories intact, and an invisible stride in his new persona. Off he goes catching the bad guys and passing the nice ones around him in this new avatar through the 12-episode debut season of the show that first aired on the Sky network back in April 2020.
According to the official synopsis provided by Peacock, "DI John Major (Daniel Mays, “White Lines”) and DI Roy Carver (Stephen Graham “Boardwalk Empire”) are the best of the best at an elite undercover police team. When Major’s cover is blown and he is met with his untimely death, he is brought back to life with some glitchy AI technology. Now, he’s better than ever - or so he thinks." Stephen Graham
Known for his roles in 'This Is England' (2006), 'Snatch' (2000), 'Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy' (2011) and 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales' (2017), Graham plays DI Roy Carver in the upcoming comedy. He is John Major's work partner and flabbergasted when the dead DI comes back to life as an all-powerful, near-immortal robot.
Daniel Mays
The hero of our story, DI John Major, is played by none other than Mays who brings his A-game to the sci-fi action-packed dramedy, the trailer will have you believe. Mays is most popularly known for his works in some of the biggest titles of the last two decades, such as 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' (2016), 'The Adventures of Tintin' (2011), 'Mr Nobody' (2009) and 'The Bank Job'.
Rosie Cavaliero
The English actress plays DCS Dennett in the comedy. She is best known for her work on 'Jane Eyre' (2011), 'Scoop' (2006), and 'Little Dorrit' (2008).
Amanda Payton
As Dr Alison Parfait, Payton is the brains behind the resurrected self of DI John Major. She is the one who created his robotic version from scratch and has to put up with is whims and fancies. Every time John decides to go on an invincible bender, Payton's doctor is the one restoring him, giving him a reality check or two. Payton is best known for 'Beginners' (2010), 'Numb3rs' (2005) and 'The Perfect Host' (2010).
'Code 404' premiers on Thursday, October 1, only on Peacock.
