Chris Rock has been obsessed with Jada Pinkett Smith for almost 30 years, source claims
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Chris Rock did not hold back as he blasted Will Smith and his wife, Jada Pinkett, on his live Netflix special 'Selective Outrage'. Now, sources close to Jada reportedly claimed the comedian was obsessed with her.
Rock outraged critics with his decision to film his Netflix special in Jada's hometown of Baltimore, where he publicly addressed Smith's Oscar slap, his wife's so-called "entanglement" with August Alsina, and a bunch of other topics. The comedian did not mince his words as he tore into the pair, especially Jada, whom he called a "b***h" several times during the special. However, insiders close to the actress have now claimed Rock had been "obsessed" with her for decades, also insisting she had nothing to do with the drama.

'Chris is obsessed with her'
"Jada has had no part in all of this other than being heckled. Chris is obsessed with her and that's been going on for almost 30 years," sources told People, adding, "Look where he chose to film his Netflix special. Her hometown [of Baltimore]. Obsessed," they added. Rock poked fun at Jada for allegedly asking him not to host the Academy Awards after her husband was snubbed for his performance in the 2015 film 'Concussion.' He quipped, "Years ago, his wife said I should quit the Oscars. I shouldn't host 'cause her man didn't get nominated for Concussion. And then he gives me a f***ing concussion." However, the insider disputed the comedian's claim. "She never asked Chris to not host ever. She publicly said in a Facebook post at the time Chris would be a great Oscars host and is perfect for the job," they said, adding, "Back in 2016 she helped start a movement with the Academy Awards by questioning why there are so few Black members, and Chris took it to this?"

Rock also said in the 90-minute special, "I did some jokes about her. Who gives a f**k? That's how it is: She starts it, I finish it. That's what the f**k happened. Nobody's pickin' on this b***h. She started this s**t. Nobody was pickin' on her."
According to sources, Jada was "shocked at how many times Chris used the word b***h in referring to Jada." The 'Collateral' actress is apparently looking to put the drama behind her. "Right now Jada is focused on her book that will come out this year," insider said. It's been almost a year since Smith walked on the Oscars stage and slapped Rock across the face for making a joke about Jada's bald head, especially after revealing she had alopecia. Following the assault, the actor walked back to his seat and yelled, "Keep my wife's name out your f***ing mouth!" He was awarded his first Academy Award for 'King Richard' shortly after.
Will Smith 'still remorseful'
It's worth noting that SMith has publicly apologized to Rock and his fans after resigning from the Academy and being banned from all its activities and events for a decade. Rock, however, was yet to publicly address the slap until his Netflix special. Sources claimed that Smith has "felt terrible for so long" about the assault but failed to make amends with the comedian. "He's tried unsuccessfully to make amends in the best way he could with Chris," an insider said, adding, "But beyond that, family is important to him and [Smith] leaned on them. It all has helped him look inside and mature. He is better but still remorseful. Will listened to those who tried to help him and feels that he has become a better person."
