BALTIMORE, MARYLAND: Chris Rock reportedly took a dig at Jada Pinkett Smith in his latest comedy special as he claimed that she ignited a feud between him and her star husband, Will, long before the slapgate incident during the 2022 Oscars. The comedian’s stand-up special 'Chris Rock: Selective Outrage' aired live on Netflix from the Hippodrome Theatre in Baltimore on Saturday, March 04.

In the live set, the ‘Death at a Funeral’ star claimed that his rift with Will goes back to 2016 when Smith attempted to force him to quit hosting the Oscars because her husband didn’t get a Best Actor nomination. At that time, Will was being tipped as a potential nominee for his performance in ‘Concussion’ but he failed to make the cut. "Years ago, his wife said I should quit the Oscars," Rock said, according to Ladbible, adding, "I shouldn't host 'cause her man didn't get nominated for Concussion. And then he gives me a f*****g concussion."

'Nobody's picking on her'

Rock said that he ignored Smith's request and went on to host the 2022 Oscars, where he made a joke about her shaved head and Will slapped him before shouting, “Keep my wife’s name out of your f*****g mouth." During the special, he claimed that he made this joke in response to Smith’s request. “That’s how it is – she starts it, I finish it, OK? That's what the f*** happened. Nobody's picking on her. She started this s***," he said according to The Independent.

'I got 'Summertime' ringing in my ears'

The ‘Amsterdam’ actor then addressed Will's slap, stating that he was "not a victim." "I got smacked at the f***ing Oscars by this m**********r," he said, adding, "People are like, 'Did it hurt?' It still hurts. I got 'Summertime' ringing in my ears." He then joked about an unfair fight between him and Will, saying, "I know you can't tell on camera - Will Smith is significantly bigger than me. We are not the same size, okay? Will Smith does movies with his shirt off. You've never seen me do a movie with my shirt off."

Rock ended the segment by saying, "My whole life I’ve rooted for this m********r. And now, I watch Emancipation just to see him get whooped. Got me rooting for Massa, OK? Hit him again, Massa! Hit him again! You missed a spot! A lot of people go, ‘Chris, how come you didn’t do anything back? How come you didn’t do nothing back that night?’ Because I got parents."
