'Just me and you, babe': Chris Rock compares Oscars slap to Paul Pelosi's hammer attack
WASHINGTON, DC: Chris Rock has compared his Oscars slap to Paul Pelosi's hammer attack during his speech honoring Adam Sandler. The comedian was among several other celebrities invited to the 2023 Mark Twain Prize ceremony and he didn’t mind stealing away the limelight talking about his in-famous slap gate. "Paul Pelosi, the only guy who knows how I felt," said Rock on Sunday, March 19.
"Just me and you, Paul. Just me and you, babe," said Rock referring to the incident when the husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was attacked at their San Francisco home in October 2022. Paul had to go through surgery to get treatment for a skull repair and facial injuries he suffered during the attack. The suspect David DePape, is facing counts of attempted murder and attempted kidnap confronted him and repeatedly shouted, "Where is Nancy, where is Nancy?"

'Are you guys really going to arrest Trump?'
Whereas Rock and Smith were involved in an incident where the latter came onto the stage and slapped Chris Rock for poking fun at his wife Jada Pinkett Smith. A few days later in a statement, Smith explained, that Rock’s punchline was too much for me to bear’ and he ‘reacted emotionally.’ The 58-year-old also touched on former President Donald Trump’s possible indictment.
"Before we start talking about Adam, to the CNN people: Are you guys really going to arrest Trump? Do you know this is only going to make him more popular? It's like arresting Tupac. He's just going to sell more records. Are you stupid?" Rock said from the audience, "He f----- a porn star and paid off someone so his wife couldn't find out. That's romantic. We've all been cheated on. Don't you wish that the person that cheated on you paid off somebody so you wouldn't find out?", he added. The Mark Twain Prize ceremony will be aired at 8 pm, on March 26, on CNN, as per People.
'We have no time for shenanigans'
Chris Rock chose to enjoy Oscars 2023 in Miami at a party hosted by fellow comedian Whitney Cummings. This year’s award ceremony was hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, who made it clear in a humorous way that he won’t be attacked since he has a lot of protection here, reports MEAWW. "There will be no nonsense tonight. We have no time for shenanigans," Kimmel said. "If anyone in this theater commits an act of violence at any point during the show, you will be awarded the Oscar for best actor and permitted to give a 19-minute-long speech."
