The scenes at 'Chicago PD' are heating up of late -- and we aren't just talking about the tough cases that the Intelligence Unit handles. The first half of the eighth season of 'Chicago PD' gave us some great Upstead and Burzek content, with one character making a major life-changing decision.
Unfortunately, viewers are going to have to wait sometime before they can find out what comes next for their favorite characters. The eighth episode of the current season just aired, but the next episode will take some time. Read on to know when 'Chicago PD' will return and what to expect when it does.

What happened previously?
'Chicago PD' has been pretty straightforward this season. The thing we were most worried about at the beginning of the season was whether Kevin Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins) would be out of Intelligence. However, Atwater used some of the tricks he learned working with Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) and his career is alright.
Meanwhile, Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) and Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) are officially together, but the couple we are most excited about is Burzek. It's clear that Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) and Adam Ruzek (Patrick Flueger) have been closer than ever as they continue in the aftermath of losing their unborn child. Burgess is now a foster mom, and whether Ruzek will join that family remains to be seen.
Ruzek might have some things to work through at the station first, however. Ruzek's recent case saw him rope in a CI to help with a drug case. However, things kept getting worse when the CI started using again, putting himself in danger, and when Ruzek takes down a suspect, he is being accused of police brutality.
Later, when his CI gets shot and Ruzek shoots the man who shot the CI dead, things look like they will get worse. It's clear that this is not the end of the story for Ruzek and we hope this provides a learning curve.

What to expect from Episode 8?
At the moment, NBC has not released an official synopsis regarding the upcoming episode of 'Chicago PD' and we have not got promos either. So, the wait to know what comes next continues. While 'Chicago Med' and 'Chicago Fire' have running storylines that let us know what we can expect in the remainders of their respective seasons, it is not the same for 'Chicago PD'.
However, we do expect 'Chicago PD' to continue to handle the issue of "police brutality" as the show does. At the moment, the NBC drama is doing poorly and its intention to address the issue seems insincere, in favor of how the writers want their characters to be perceived, regardless of real-life consequences.
Right now, the big question lingering on 'Chicago PD' is whether Ruzek will make it through the events that started in the latest episode or whether Ruzek will end up paying for what he did. Fans may also remember that Ruzek took the blame for Antonio Dawson (Jon Seda) in a previous season for the death of a suspect in a case. With this being Ruzek's second such incident, things do not look good for him.
