After the fall finale of Season 5 of 'Chicago P.D.', many viewers were worried that fan-favorite Detective Jay Halstead would not survive his gunshot wound. Thankfully, our favorite detective survives but that was not the only gift the writers decided to bestow upon us.

Over the course of the episode, we saw that Jay's partner, Detective Hailey Upton was quite shaken up over the ordeal -- more so than anyone else on the Intelligence Unit. In a conversation she has with rookie Vanessa Rojas, Rojas tells her that Hailey feels this way because she loves him, and it is possible that only then Hailey realizes, that, yes, she does have feelings for her partner.

However, she is still wary of the events of the previous episode and how much Jay is involved in Marcus West's son's life. And so, when she is about to tell him that she has feelings for him, Jay gets a call from Marcus's son and chooses to answer it.

Later, Hailey changes her mind about telling Jay her feelings.

Needless to say, though fans were excited that Jay survived, many were disappointed that "Upstead" will continue to be a slow burn. A viewer tweeted, "ok now that it’s past 11 and the ep is over and I’ve had a minute I can finally BREATHE bc JAY HALSTEAD AND HIS BIG DUMB HEART ARE OK #ChicagoPD." One fan wrote, "All the buildup for jay and Hailey and nothing... kinda over it now #ChicagoPD."

However, fans did love the scenes between the two characters in the winter premiere. One fan wrote, "That scene between Jay and Hailey was so adorable. The way she looked at him when she was gonna say something to him and that she helped him with his jacket. It shows how much she cares about him. My #Upstead heart! #ChicagoPD."

'Chicago P.D.' airs on NBC on Wednesday nights.
