'Chicago Fire', like the other shows in the 'Chicago' franchise, will end its current season earlier than expected since production halted due to the pandemic. While earlier, Season 8 was supposed to have 23 episodes, now it will end with Episode 20. However, there are still two episodes left to enjoy.

Episode 19 will unfortunately not air this week as the show goes on one of its scheduled breaks. But considering we don't know when our favorite TV Chicago emergency response professionals to be back, it might be good to stretch the remaining episodes out.

The next episode of 'Chicago Fire' will air on April 8 and it could have a big treat for fans. However, no episode of 'Chicago Fire' is complete without tension and intrigue. When a group of rabble-rousers attempts to lock down the firehouse, the doors are chained shut and the firehouse is told that it is a "formal protest" from what we can see in the promo -- tension rises and things go out of hand, leading to a confrontation where Joe Cruz (Joe Minoso) gets hurt.

This does not bode well as the synopsis for the episode also suggests that we will also be witnessing Joe Cruz's big day, something 'Chicago Fire' fans have been waiting for a while. In the Season 8 premiere, viewers and the 'Chicago Fire' family collectively lost Brian "Otis" Zvonecek (Yuri Sardarov), who died in a house fire.

Cruz, who was Otis's best friend and roommate, was especially devastated. Later, his girlfriend Chloe (Kristen Gutoskie) broke up with him because she was worried about dating a firefighter. However, all things were resolved and Cruz ended up proposing to her.

Later, Cruz asked Lt Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) to be his best man. We're sure we will get to see the others as Cruz's groomsmen as well. Photos for the episode shows the members of Firehouse 51 dressed to the nines, so we expect Cruz to be alright.

Meanwhile, paramedic Sylvie Brett is faced with a monumental decision. In the last episode, her birth mother, Julie, gave birth to Brett's younger sister and passed away. Fans were devastated at Julie's death, especially since Sylvie was just getting to know her. The monumental decision Sylvie has to make would most likely involve her infant sister.

Elsewhere in the episode, firefighters Blake Gallo and Darren Ritter attempt to launch Firehouse 51 into the social media age. Having Gallo and Ritter in scenes together has been a refreshing change for the show and we can't wait to see what hijinks this new generation of Firehouse 51 will get up to.

'Chicago Fire' airs on NBC on Wednesday nights at 9/8c. The next episode will air on April 8.
