'Charmed' Season 3: Meet Madeleine Mantock, Rupert Evans and rest of the cast returning for The CW show
The CW's 'Charmed' reboot was forced to shut down production at the end of the second season and therefore, end it earlier than expected due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, the show still ended on a cliffhanger and while "Hacy" fans got a brief respite, the Season 2 finale seemed to take it away in its final moments. Whether Harry Greenwood's (Rupert Evans) decision to ask Maggie Vera (Sarah Jeffery) to erase his feelings for Macy Vaughn (Madeleine Mantock) will stick, remains to be seen, but the answers will be revealed to us shortly.
With Season 3 set to return to The CW shortly, fans could be hoping that the reboot manages to salvage some of The CW's three-season-luck- that is, if the show is renewed for three seasons on The CW, it generally tends to go on longer. Given that the previous season finale did not deal with the season's big bad, we also expect the villains of the previous season to return.
Before we go into the third season of 'Charmed', let's take a look at a list of the main cast and characters of the show and who are expected to return.
Madeleine Mantock
Madeleine Mantock is a British actress and is known for her work on 'Into the Badlands' and 'The Tomorrow People'. She plays Macy Vaughn, the eldest of the witch sisters. Her role has been described as that of a practical, driven and a brilliant geneticist on the show.
Over the past two seasons, we have been seeing Macy come into her own as the book-smart sister. Unfortunately, we have not been seeing much of it in the previous season, so we hope that the scientist side of Macy comes back.
Melonie Diaz
Melonie Diaz is an American actress and her previous credits include 'Girls' and 'Person of Interest'. She also appeared on VH1’s series 'The Breaks', HBO’s 'Room 104' and the Amazon original movie, 'Gringo.' She plays the role of middle sister, Melanie "Mel" Vera, a queer, outspoken activist with the ability to freeze time, like Holly Marie Combs's ‘90s character, Piper.
Mel has been such a refreshing character on the show, one that is not afraid to speak what she thinks and is the street-smart one among the sisters. However, we do hope to see more of her activism side in the third season.
Sarah Jeffery
Sarah Jeffery is an American actress known for her work in Disney's 'Descendants' franchise. Before 'Charmed', she starred as Jennifer Lopez's daughter on the NBC series, 'Shades of Blue'. In 'Charmed' she plays the role of the youngest sister, Margarita Emilia "Maggie" Vera. Maggie is described as “a bubbly college freshman” who has her sights set on pledging a sorority. She has the ability to read minds and manipulate emotions.
In the previous season, Maggie's powers evolved in that she could feel others' emotions and then also start to manipulate emotions. This could be why their Whitelighter Harry asked her for a special favor.
Rupert Evans
Rupert Evans is a British actor and has previously acted in Amazon's 'The Man in the High Castle'. He plays the role of the sisters' Whitelighter, Harry Greenwood who takes care of the trio on the show.
In the previous season, we learned that Harry has a Darklighter who was being controlled by the season's big villain, Vivienne Laurent. Season 2 mostly focused on Harry-which took away from what 'Charmed' is about. While we agree that Evans is an exceptional actor and makes Harry quite endearing, 'Charmed' has always been about the three sisters and we hope that Season 3 will go back to that.
'Charmed' also stars Melinda McGraw as Vivienne Laurent and Eric Balfour as Julian Shea.
'Charmed' Season 3 will premiere on The CW on Sunday, January 24, 2021, at 9/8c.
