BTS Jin to enlist for mandatory military service in December, fans say 'he will succeed with flying colors'
YEONCHEON COUNTY, SOUTH KOREA: BTS' Jin will join the recruit training center in Yeoncheon County of Gyeonggi Province on December 13. Jin will receive basic training, after which he will be given his first official assignment.
The oldest member of the K-Pop phenomenon, Jin, 29, will commence his mandatory five-week military training before being deployed to a "frontline unit", reported SCMP. However, a source from BIGHIT MUSIC briefly commented, “It is difficult to confirm. We ask for your generous understanding.” Though there were reports that the seven members of the K-Pop band would be given exemption from the training due to their contribution to the South Korean economy, the artists will have to follow the rules as it is, reported The Guardian.

In an earlier statement, they announced, “Group member Jin will initiate the process as soon as his schedule for his solo release is concluded at the end of October. Other members of the group plan to carry out their military service based on their own individual plans.” According to Korean law, "all able-bodied South Korean men under the age of 30 must serve in the military for between 18 and 21 months." However, Jim will turn 30 on December 4 before his training commences.
The Internet couldn't keep calm as the news spilled out. A fan claimed, "Jin is smart and strong and I know he will succeed in this deployment with flying colors. Armys will be there to welcome him back! The RoK Army better be prepared for care packages, letters, etc. They better get delivered to him if they know what’s good for them." Another fan was concerned about sending him to the frontline, "I honestly had a similar thought when I first heard it so you're not alone. Ofc we don't know what influenced his placement, but I hope he'll be okay. He's already said he doesn't do well with the winter weather so all we can do is keep him in our thoughts."
