'Dynamite' is an upbeat disco-pop song with elements of funk, soul and bubblegum pop and is BTS's first song to be fully recorded in English. With a theme intended to soothe listeners during the Covid-19 pandemic, the song talks about joy and appreciation for the little things that make our lives more valuable. The song has been a massive success for BTS, from fan support to critical acclaim. Critics have praised the song for its catchiness and broadly appealing retro sound.
'Dynamite' took the crown at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, marking the band's first number-one single in the United States and making BTS the first all-South Korean act to top the Hot 100. It still continues to impact the Billboard Hot 100, currently positioned at No. 5 on the chart. Other top five entries currently on the chart include 24kGoldn ft Iann Dior's 'Mood' which debuted at No. 1, Cardi B ft Megan Thee Stallion's 'WAP' at No. 2, Drake ft Lil Durk's 'Laugh Now Cry Later' at No. 3 and The Weeknd's 'Blinding Lights' at No. 4.
Additionally, 'Dynamite' sold 265,000 downloads in its first week, becoming the biggest pure sales week since Taylor Swift's 'Look What You Made Me Do'.
Meanwhile, BTS are gearing for the release of a new album titled 'BE (Deluxe Edition)', dropping on November 20, according to Rolling Stone.
