BTS is set to deliver a special performance this holiday season. Announced by the K-pop group's label Big Hit Entertainment on December 7, BTS will hit the stage at TBS' 'CDTV Live! Live! Christmas Special' to perform their 2020 smash 'Dynamite'. Due to the ongoing spread of the coronavirus, all performances will be filmed live in South Korea.

Here's all you need to know for the upcoming Christmas event.

Airdate

'CDTV Live! Live! Christmas Special' will air on TBS December 21 at 7 pm. KST. / 5 am EST

Performers' Line-up

BTS

As mentioned above, BTS will perform their record-breaking 'Dynamite' single, but as six members without Suga. According to Soompi, the BTS member is recovering from surgery on his shoulder: “Suga recently received surgery for his shoulder, so he won’t be appearing on this stage in order to concentrate on recovery. Please be understanding.”

TXT

South Korean boy group TXT will also share the CDTV stage for a night of Christmas celebration, debuting the Japanese version of the title track 'Blue Hour' from their latest EP 'Minisode1: Blue Hour'  for its first live performance. The EP recently impacted the US Billboard 200 albums chart, breaking a personal record for the group. Additionally, during the week of its release, the EP also hit the No 1 position on Oricon's daily and weekly album charts in Japan.

Seventeen

Fans can also look forward to an appearance by Seventeen on the upcoming Christmas special. The boy group will perform the title track '24H' from their latest EP of the same name.

Other artists to perform on 'CDTV Live! Live! Christmas Special' include but are not limited to:

Baby Metal - Japanese kawaii metal group
Mr. Children - Japanese pop-rock band
LiSA - J-pop, rock, pop-punk singer
DISH - Japanese pop-rock band

Concept

For those unfamiliar with the show, CDTV (Count Down TV) is a Japanese late-night music television program, broadcast on the network TBS since 1993. The series is shown weekly and features live performances from popular artists, a Japanese music video hit chart countdown, music information and more. It is presented by three CGI-animated hosts. Considering that the program has tapped some of the biggest names in South Korea for performances and that Covid-19 has altered the way live shows/events are presented for fans, it will be exciting to see how they've mixed things up for fans watching at home.
