BRIT Awards 2021: How to live stream, air time, performers featuring Dua Lipa and all you need to know about the star-studded event

The Brit Awards 2021 aka The BRITs will take place in May this year and the award show has released the nomination list along with teasing viewers with a few names on the performers' list. Grammy-nominated South Korean music group BTS and Foo Fighters have got the nomination under the International Group of the year category while Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande and Billie Eilish are some of the most-coveted international female solo artists on the nominations list. Burna Boy, The Weeknd and Childish Gambino are among those nominated for the best international male solo artist category.

The BRITs started way back in 1977 and this year will mark the 41st edition of the prestigious award show that will be hosted by comedian Jack Whitehall for the fourth consecutive year. Following the regulations of the Covid-19 pandemic this year, the ceremony will be held with a limited live audience as part of a test by the UK government on crowds with no social distancing. This year, the award show also came under fire for a number of controversies including artiste Sam Smith slamming the institution for using the gendered categories of British Male and British Female Solo Artist as they completely exclude those who do not fit into either of those categories. Smith came out as nonbinary and criticized the award show, urging for the much-needed changes saying, "The BRITs have been an important part of my career. Music for me has always been about unification not division. I look forward to a time where awards shows can be reflective of the society we live in. Let’s celebrate everybody, regardless of gender, race, age, ability, sexuality and class."

Performers

Dua Lipa

Among the star-studded lineup list, which is yet to be released, Dua Lipa will be performing at the BRIT awards 2021. The 25-year-old 'Levitating' singer, winner of three Grammy Awards, three Brit Awards, two MTV Europe Music Awards, one MTV Video Music Award, and an American Music Award will be headlining the show.

Griff

Sarah Faith Griffiths aka Griff, the British singer and songwriter who released her debut single 'Mirror Talk' through Warner Records in 2019, will also perform. The rising musician has expressed her excitement about performing saying, “Guys, pray for me!! I’m going to be in a room full of the biggest and best artists in the world, singing my little heart out. I can’t wait!!!!”
