Brian Cox, 76, takes a dig at media mogul Rupert Murdoch getting engaged at 92
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Brian Cox of ‘Succession' has publicly mocked Rupert Murdoch for remarrying at the age of 92. This week, it was revealed that billionaire media tycoon Murdoch was engaged to his current girlfriend Ann Lesley Smith, 66, barely six months after they met - and less than a year after his divorce from his fourth wife, Jerry Hall, was finalized.
The ‘Manhunter’ actor made fun of the age Rupert had chosen to take his relationship to the next level during an interview on ‘The Jonathan Ross Show’ on Friday. When asked what he thought of the nonagenarian's potential fifth marriage, Cox replied, "Good luck!" Meanwhile, Ann Lesley Smith, a former San Francisco police chaplain whose late husband was the country musician, radio, and TV executive Chester Smith, told the New York Post, "It's a gift from God for both of us. We first met in September of last year.”

Age is just a number
Cox's remark on Rupert's engagement comes after the Australian-born mogul, who has been married four times before, revealed the big news in an interview with his newspaper, the New York Post. He acknowledged being "nervous" about proposing to Ann, but he is "certain" that their union will be his "last".
“I was very nervous. I dreaded falling in love — but I knew this would be my last. It better be. I’m happy,” he told the publication. He also stated that they intend to tie the knot in the late summer of this year.
Brian recently finished filming his fourth and last season of ‘Legacy’ as Rupert prepares to walk down the aisle for the fifth time. He discussed the HBO show's writer, Jesse Armstrong, and how it feels to be leaving the immensely successful series in which he plays the father and wealthy businessman Logan Roy. “You have finite television and you have infinite television that goes on and on well past its sell by date,” he explained. “He’s [Jesse] known the curve of this thing from way back.”

“I think it’s going to be difficult for people. They become so addicted to the show,” he continued. “They don’t know why they like it as much as they do, there’s a lot of hateful people… that’s what audiences like, that horribleness of people.”
Brian, who co-stars on 'Succession' with Jeremy Strong, Kieran Culkin, Sarah Snook, and others, also revealed that Season 4 will be "a rollercoaster" that will keep fans on their toes. "There's a lot in there... "I'm still stumped," he explained. "There has been an extraordinary intimacy with all of us. I don't mind that the show is coming to an end, but it's the people, the folk. The crew, the incredible camera operators... It's the entire package. The whole shebang. It's the best rush in the world, and I'm sorry when it's over."
