'Expect an announcement soon': Rupert Murdoch, 91, all set to propose to GF Ann-Lesley Smith, 66, who may become his FIFTH wife
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Rupert Murdoch, the owner of the media conglomerate, has already moved his new girlfriend Ann-Lesley Smith, 66, into a new $30 million, 6,500 square foot condominium, making room for the California widow to become his fifth wife. Murdoch, 91, bought renowned opera singer Alice Tully's seven-bedroom, full-floor home in Bel Air, California.
Many in the businessman's inner circle believe the abrupt move, which came just three months after the two first met, means the tycoon is getting ready to propose to Smith. "Expect an announcement soon," a source told Radar Online. Murdoch and Smith, who met in November 2022, were spotted recently together by a public beach in Barbados, with Smith wearing a yellow halterneck bikini and a matching sarong with a large diamond crucifix pendant. They were said to be spending time on the Caribbean island at the invitation of British billionaire Anthony Bamford, the chairman of JCB.

Murdoch's divorce from former model Jerry Hall, whom he married in 2016, is still fresh. The couple had only been together for about four months when they got engaged. The couple reached a divorce agreement in August 2022. Friends of the couple blamed their different lifestyles and Hall's smoking as reasons behind the split. Murdoch met the model after he split from his third wife Wendi Deng in 2013. The duo went public at the Rugby World Cup final in October 2015, and their first red carpet-appearance was at the Golden Globes 2016.
'Things aren’t important to me anymore'
Smith is the widow of country music icon Chester Smith who died unexpectedly at the age of 78 in a Palo Alto hospital after a heart attack. She graduated from college in the 1970s and before marrying Chester. She was in an abusive first marriage which, she has said, led her to find God and become a volunteer police chaplain in Marin County, California. "As I began to walk with God, the things of the world just seemed pointless to me," she said, as per CBN. "Things aren’t important to me anymore. What really matters is other people. When you let the Lord take control of your life, you can make it. Out of the ruins you can rise and let the oil of His anointing just be all over you," she added.
