'Bob Hearts Abishola' Season 1 Episode 8: Why is there no new episode airing tonight?
The freshman comedy, 'Bob Hearts Abishola', will not air a new episode this week. Instead, the eighth episode will air next Monday, November 18.
Created by Chuck Lorre, Gina Yashere, Eddie Gorodetsky, and Al Higgins, 'Bob Hearts Abishola' follows the two titular characters: One, a middle-aged sock businessman, the other, a Nigerian immigrant single mother working as a nurse.
The show has already racked up controversy over its use of racist stereotypes and jokes when it had been marketed as a diverse story. Some viewers were especially offended by the jokes targeting the chasm between African-Americans and African immigrants.
The two meet when Abishola is the nurse on duty after Bob suffers a heart attack. While Bob is instantly enamored with Abishola, the latter does not feel the same way. However, a few episodes in, Abishola agrees to go out on a date with Bob.
It is as the date ends that Bob gets a call from his sister, Christina, saying his mother is acting weird. Abishola, who is also in the car with Bob, quickly diagnoses that it is a stroke and gets Christina to call an ambulance.
In the last episode that we saw, Bob hires Abishola to look after his mother, Dottie, who needs special care in her recovery from the stroke. The theme will continue in next week's episode as Abishola will be working part-time to take care of Dottie (along with working at the hospital).
'Bob Hearts Abishola' stars Billy Gardell and Folake Olowofoyeku as the titular characters, besides Matt Jones, Christine Ebersole and Maribeth Monroe as Bob's brother, mother, and sister respectively. It also stars Shola Adewusi and Barry Shabaka Henley, as Abishola's aunt and uncle, and Vernee Watson and Gina Yashere as Abishola's friends.
'Bob Hearts Abishola' airs on CBS on Monday nights. The next episode of 'Bob Hearts Abishola' will air on November 18.
