We know that ARMY may be wondering where BTS stands amongst the Gaon Chart certifications. In 2020, BTS has seen their fourth Korean-language album, 'Map of the Soul: 7', hit an impressive 4x million-seller certification in April. Other BTS projects to rise close to the mark during 2020 include 'LOVE YOURSELF 轉 `Tear', earning 2x million-seller certification, 'Map of the Soul: Persona' (3x million), and 'LOVE YOURSELF 結 `Answer' (2x million). EXO also saw their million-seller certification this year by the Gaon Chart, for 'DON`T MESS UP MY TEMPO-The 5th Album'.

In April 2018, Gaon introduced music recording certifications for albums, downloads and streaming. For albums, certifications are awarded based on shipment figures provided by record labels and distributors. Download and streaming certifications are awarded to songs based on online data provided by web-based music providers. Any albums or songs released on or after January 1, 2018, are eligible for certification.
