K-pop girl group Blackpink has taken to social media to announce that their new single 'Lovesick Girls' is getting an official music video. Blinks can look forward to the music video dropping on October 2 at 1 pm KST/12 am EST. The group first announced the single on September 28 and have since teased the music video with a concept video as well as a preview of the official music video.

"#BLACKPINK #블랙핑크 #1stFULLALBUM #THEALBUM #LovesickGirls #MV_Teaser #20201002_12amEST #20201002_1pmKST #Release #YG" the band wrote in the caption alongside their latest teaser. In the 16-second clip, we see the girls in an urban setting. Rosé with pink hair is bathing in black paint, the girls are in a car decorated with writing made from the same paint, and Jisoo is running through the street. The creative intent isn't clear but it is intriguing.

Sonically, from the few bars we have heard, 'Lovesick Girls' resonates with indie pop or electropop bands like Grouplove. The clip opens with an uptempo acoustic guitar riff and ends with the group antheming "We are the lovesick girls." Watch the preview below.

The concept video came with the initial announcement of the track and shows fewer scenes. Similarly, the girls are seen running through the street in an urban setting. Fans on Twitter were quick to share their excitement over the new music video. "OMFG," said a fan in all caps while another wrote, "YES LEGENDS."

One fan said, "'LOVESICK GIRLS' sounds like it’s copied from somewhere? idk just the beat, the concept, everything... it all sounds familiar?I just can’t pinpoint exactly where I’ve heard it?? wait I figured it out...it sounds like the song of the year." One fan enjoyed the cinematic feel of the video and added, "wow hope to see some acting in the mv."

'Lovesick Girls' is the title track from their upcoming Korean-language debut album. Aptly titled 'The Album', the new record has seen the release of two singles including ‘How You Like That‘ which released back in June and ‘Ice Cream‘ alongside Selena Gomez which arrived in August 28.

On September 27, the band also announced a ‘COMEBACK LIVE’ event to coincide with the release of ‘The Album'. The event is scheduled to take place next Friday, October 2 at 2 am BST (October 1, 9 pm EST/10 am KST) on VLIVE.
