South Korea's mega girl group Blackpink has broken records as Korea's first group to have a music video surpass one billion views on YouTube. On September 2, Blackpink's single 'Kill This Love' reached one billion views on the streaming platform. Blackpink took to social media to share their new achievement. The group uploaded a promotional poster of the song and the one-billion-views win. You can view the photo here

Fans on Twitter were quick to share their love for the track, calling it an "ICONIC BOP", and congratulate their favorite K-pop group.

Several fans called them "the revolution" with comments like "BLACKPINK DOMINATION" and "queens of kpop."

Other fans are hoping to see Blackpink's visual for their latest single 'Ice Cream' which features Selena Gomez or their 2016 music video 'Boombayah' to also surpass the one billion mark.

Earlier today, 'Ice Cream' also saw a massive number of views on YouTube with over 150 million views, and that is notably just within just a few days of its release. Furthermore, the South Korean girl band, which comprises members Jisoo, Jennie, Rose and Lisa, had teased the song with a 17-second video on YouTube just a day before the song's release and that alone garnered 14 million views.

The song had been teased back in June when the group announced a comeback and the new single, but up until its release, the special guest artiste (Selena Gomez) was kept under wraps.

Blackpink's previous music video to hit the one billion mark is for their 2018 single 'Ddu-Du Ddu-Du', which currently is at approximately 1.3 billion views. Other music videos by Blackpink appear to be well on their way to reach the same milestone. As fans pointed out, the closest at this point is the 'Boombayah' music video with its 955 million views. Next in line are the videos for songs 'Playing With Fire' and 'Whistle' with just over half a billion views.

When it comes to music video streams on YouTube, South Korea's beloved k-pop boyband BTS are a close rival to Blackpink. BTS' music video for 'DNA' has always earned over a billion views (currently at close to 1.1 billion) while their 2018 music video for 'Idol' is at 735 million views. Their latest music video, 'Dynamite', has also received much love from fans and critical acclaim. Its YouTube views, as of now, are at 276 million views.
