Björk announces 2020 European orchestral tour featuring acoustic string arrangements of her 'works so far'
Singer, songwriter, record producer and DJ Björk has announced the dates for her 'Björk Orchestral' tour on February 26. Taking place in July, the series of orchestral performances for her fans will feature acoustic string arrangements of her "works so far", according to the poster.
The limited summer European trek will kick off on July 2 in Moscow, Russia at the Crocus Music Hall and the Icelandic artist will wrap up on July 26 in Cheshire, England to play her previously-announced headline show at the Bluedot Festival. The festival takes place at Cheshire’s iconic Jodrell Bank Observatory where Björk will perform alongside Manchester’s historic Halle Orchestra, according to NME. The 'I’ve Seen It All' singer will also make stops in Russia, Finland, Germany, France, and England. Check the complete list of tour dates below.
Björk, born and raised in Iceland's capital city Reykjavík, began her music career at the age of 11. She first gained international recognition as the lead singer of the alternative rock band The Sugarcubes. After the band's breakup, Björk went on to pursue her solo career in 1993, coming to prominence as a solo artist with albums such as 'Debut' (1993), 'Post' (1995) and 'Homogenic' (1997). She has released a total of nine studio albums. Björk's latest studio album 'Utopia' released in 2017 and she has gone on two tours since: A 'Utopia' supporting tour in 2018 and the 'Cornucopia' that was the singer's “most elaborate staged concert to date”, according to an article in The Guardian.
Earlier this year, Björk performed from her back catalog contributing music to an AI-driven soundscape at the Sister City hotel in New York hotel. Snippets of her music evolved according to weather patterns and passing flocks of birds or planes, all captured by a camera on the hotel's roof, according to Dazed.
