Billie Eilish is not letting body-shaming trolls have the last word. In a powerful short film, written and produced by the 'Bad Guy' singer, aptly titled 'Not My Responsibility', Eilish appeared in the dark wearing a black hoodie. She begins to recite personal and hard-hitting words that call out body-shaming and ill judgment. Appearing vulnerable and wearing a deadpan expression, Eilish upfront questions people's perception of her and how they expect her to be like, "Do you know me?" and “Would you like me to be smaller? Weaker? Softer? Taller? Would you like me to be quiet? Do my shoulders provoke you?” as she slowly disrobes.

Towards the end, Eilish begins to sink into a black liquid as she says, “We make assumptions about people based on their size. We decide who they are. We decide what they’re worth,” before concluding the 4-minute clip with,  “If I wear more, if I wear less — who decides what that makes me? What that means? Is my value based only on your perception? Or is your opinion of me not my responsibility?”

Fans on Twitter were blown away by the video, saying, "She snapped omg" and "she is so stunning." One fan said,  "Her power and talent is immaculate" while another wrote, "She keeps serving." A fan called her "queen of surprise releases." Eilish is often on the bitter end of criticism and harsh judgment with her music. Fans also defended their favorite singer in response to the video, saying "Period billie they gon hate regardless." One fan says, "First time the comments are mostly positive instead of negative ones hating on her:))"

The singer has received numerous criticisms for wearing baggy clothes before turning 18 years old, amongst other things. In an interview with Dazed in April, Eilish spoke about a picture of her wearing a tank top rather than her usual baggy clothing which went viral. “I saw comments like, ‘How dare she talk about not wanting to be sexualised and wear this?!’” she said. At the beginning of 2020, she posted a video of herself (her head and shoulders) in a bathing suit while on holiday with friends. “It was trending. There were comments like, ‘I don’t like her any more because as soon as she turns 18 she’s a whore.’ Like, dude. I can’t win. I can-not win,” she said.

'Not My Responsibility' originally debuted during Eilish's 'Where Do We Go?' world tour, but it was postponed in March due to the coronavirus pandemic.
