We know that the sixth and final season of ‘Better Call Saul’ is divided into two parts and the show just premiered the penultimate episode of Part 1. With just one episode remaining for the mid-season finale, things are getting pretty intense for every character in the ‘BCS’ universe.

The previous episode was mostly about Saul (Bob Odenkirk) and Howard (Patrick Fabian) settling their fight with an epic boxing scene that will be remembered for years. In the latest episode, we got the best of both worlds. From Kim (Rhea Seehorn) and Saul’s plan to Lalo’s (Tony Dalton) crazy plan of hunting people down that are close to Gus, there was something for everyone. The episode started with a flashback of Kim’s childhood and how her mother was also a kind of a scammer. So, you know, we realized how she must have fallen in love with Jimmy.

'Better Call Saul' Season 6 Episode 5: Will Saul and Kim's plan against Howard succeed?

The best part of Kim’s story is that she is making strides in her career and also helping Saul in the entire Howard Hamlin matter. At the same time, she is really worried about the things to come because she wants everything to be perfect. She never wants to be near the cartel and she knows what’s coming. Lalo is still out there and when he returns, he will definitely come after Saul as well.

She is torn, but she is also confident with everything that she’s been doing for her own career and if Cliff is giving her the opportunity, she will gladly take that chance. Meanwhile, Howard has found something weird with what’s Saul doing. The Private Investigator found out that Saul picked up multiple stacks of cash and when he asked Howard if there’s a reason for a lawyer to have a huge stack of cash, he said that there’s “no legitimate reason”. But the look on his face seems to tell us something different. He knows that Saul is getting ready for his next set of plans and Howard wants to know what he’s going to do.

The entire situation between Howard and Saul is getting really bizarre because of the things Saul is ready to do to bring Howard down. However, their plan came crashing down after Saul witnessed something that could blow up everything and I mean, everything.

On the other hand, Lalo continues to be hiding in the shadows and doing his work in the background. He needs to make a comeback and boy, oh boy, he’s making everyone really anxious. His presence only can make things worse for everyone because we know what he’s done in the past. The only cute moment arrived when we saw Mike spending some time with his granddaughter. I feel so bad for him because we know that things won’t end in a good manner for Mike, but seeing him having such a sweet side, it just breaks my heart.

It was the perfect penultimate episode for Part 1 of the AMC series. Interestingly, the episode was helmed by Giancarlo Esposito, who plays Gus Fring on the show, and we didn’t get a single glimpse of him during the episode. Not a single shot, but he managed to keep up hooked to our screens with amazing shots and the pacing.

The writing has been top-notch and every actor on the show is giving their 200% on screen. That’s how iconic shows are made and this episode just showed a glimpse of it.
