Ahead of the Screen Actors Guild Awards ceremony, the SAG Awards Twitter account has announced some of its winners. 'Avengers: Endgame' and 'Game of Thrones' have both won the Actor for Outstanding Action Performance by Stunt Ensemble in the categories of Motion Picture, and Comedy or Drama Series respectively.

Stuntwork does not always get the recognition it deserves, especially considering the role it plays in large scale action blockbuster entertainment. 'Avengers: Endgame' and 'Game of Thrones' were two of the largest entertainment experiences of 2019, both bringing long-running stories to a conclusion, and their high-stakes action scenes were a large part of what made them so compelling.

'Game of Thrones' saw its final season and pulled out all the stops when it came to battles, including the fight against the White Walkers, and the battle for King's Landing. While season's writing left many fans unsatisfied with the series' conclusion, the show's extended battle scenes continued to raise the bar for what's possible on television.

'Avengers: Endgame' had its share of fighting as well, including a scene with two Captain Americas (Chris Evans), and, of course, the climactic battle between the Avengers and Thanos' (Josh Brolin) interplanetary army.

While there was a heavy amount of CGI involved in both 'Endgame' and the final season of 'Game of Thrones,' the practical stunts involved should not be overlooked. The SAG Awards' Twitter account tweeted the awards announcements with reactions from the cast of both franchises. Check out the tweets below:

'Outstanding Action Performance by Stunt Ensemble in a Motion Picture' was the only category 'Avengers: Endgame' was nominated for for the SAG Awards, beating out 'Ford v. Ferrari', 'The Irishman', 'Joker', and 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.'

The SAG Awards begin at 8/7 p.m. Central at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, airing on both TNT and TBS.
