Atinys (Ateez’s fandom) were first in awe when Ateez announced their next comeback through guerrilla marketing. ‘The World Ep.1: Movement’ was teased through fliers, secret QR codes and wanted posters scattered around their European tour venues. Detective Atinys created fan theories as they guessed that the concept of the next album would involve a rebellion of sorts to complement the guerrilla-style PR. And they were not wrong as Ateez revealed the title track ‘Guerrilla’ on July 14.

Ateez’s storyline from their debut date is vast with ‘The World Ep.1: Movement’ hinting at a new arc where the boys team up with their dark ‘Hala Hala’ alter egos to fight the main antagonist – The Masked Man. Along with a new plot arc, we are also getting a new side to the group’s discography and image. Fans were excited when long-time collaborator Maddox, who is known to narrate Ateez’s VCR and trailers, created several of the album tracks. Well, here’s everything we know about Ateez’s new album.

Ateez’s ‘The World Ep.1: Movement’ will be released on July 29 at 1 pm KST (12 am ET).

Where to listen

Ateez’s new album series will be available on all major music streaming platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, MelOn and more.

Tracklist

1. ‘Propaganda’
2. ‘Sector 1’
3. ‘Cyberpunk’
4. ‘Guerrilla’ - Title track
5. ‘The Ring’
6. ‘WDIG (Where Do I Go’
7. ‘New World’

Along with the usual Eden-ary team that produces for Ateez, we have singer and songwriter Maddox collaborating with the group on several of the tracks. He has participated in the making of six of seven tracks except ‘Sector 1’. In the past, he has helped compose album intros and fan-favorites like ‘All About You’ and ‘Be With You’. Ateez members Hongjoong and Mingi too have written their lyrics for six of seven tracks except ‘Propaganda’.

Concept

There are four concepts for ‘The World Ep.1: Movement’. In the first concept photo, the boys are dressed in darkcore outfits carrying flags about their resistance and being surrounded by Halateez. In the second concept, the boys continue with their rebel image as they sport dystopic outfits and pale makeup. Ateez then look chic in grunge denim and leather as they pose for the ‘Guerrilla’ poster hinting at an action-infused music video for the track. Two more concept teasers will be released from July 18 and July 22 onwards.

Music video teasers

Ateez dropped a cinematic official trailer that is reminiscent of the dystopian films of the 2010s as they present a world where pain and negative feelings have been erased. Ateez is a rebellious group that hopes to take down this oppressive government as they infiltrate the base by disguising themselves as guards in blue uniforms.

The second trailer continues where the first left off. With Hongjoong running away from the guards, it marks the start of something as each member signals the next to start the mission. They hope to stop the brainwashing and give the people free will to choose their own emotions. The boys will be giving us a glimpse of the choreography with a performance preview clip of 'Guerrilla' on July 20. Ateez will then be releasing music video teasers for ‘Guerrilla’ on July 26 and 27.
