'Arrow' Season 8 Episode 5: Oliver trains Mia to use weapons but it's unlikely he'll ever show her his boxing glove arrow
Oliver Queen / Green Arrow (Stephen Amell) has a lot of very useful weapons at his disposal but his specialty arrows are the most important and iconic part of his arsenal. In 'Arrow' Season 8 Episode 5 'Prochnost', Oliver shows off some of his trick arrows to his daughter Mia Smoak (Katherine McNamara), but there are a few he left out.
In the episode, Oliver shows Mia how to use some of his specialty arrows, including the explosive arrow, the bola arrow and more. It's all part of Mia's training to become her father's successor but we'd be lying if we said he didn't clearly enjoy the chance to wow his daughter with all the cool gadgets he owns.
The arrows we see in 'Prochnost' are just a small sample of the vast arsenal that Oliver has used in his war on crime. Once 'Arrow' comes to an end and Mia goes on to star in her own spin-off show, we'll probably get to see her use some more of these specialty weapons but there's one arrow that Oliver definitely wouldn't want Mia to inherit from him.
The boxing glove arrow is one of Green Arrow's oldest weapons, a relic from the early comic book history of the character. It's not something anyone expected to see adapted to live-action but a make-shift version of the arrow was used by Oliver in Season 3.
We haven't seen him use the boxing glove arrow since and in all probability, Oliver never really considered adding it to his quiver permanently, mostly because it wouldn't fit. But even if he did, the boxing glove arrow is such an embarrassingly ridiculous weapon that it's unlikely he would ever reveal its existence to anyone, let alone his own daughter.
'Arrow' Season 8 Episode 6 'Reset' will air on The CW on November 26.
