Ari Lennox seemed to be in a bad mood over the weekend as she took to her Twitter account to rant about her music. The singer-songwriter, whose real name is Courtney Shanade Salter, expressed her issues by dragging her record label into the mess. The ‘Shea Butter Baby’ hitmaker shared that she wanted to get dropped from her record label adding that she wants to be “free.”

The latest explosive tweets come days after she vowed never to sit for an interview after the South African podcaster Mac G- host of one of her recent interviews asked questions about her sex life. Threatening to quit music, the Washington DC native in her latest tweets said she was “done and tired.” The Grammy-nominated crooner also quoted her controversial interview over the weekend claiming it was “icing on the cake.” For the unversed, Ari is signed to J Cole’s Dreamville. She was the first female rapper to crack a deal with J Cole’s brainchild.

Is Ari Lennox quitting Dreamville?

Ari Lennox went on a lengthy rant by first wishing her fans good morning with sarcasm. She started with, “I will continue to sing about d**k when I want! And you misogynistic peasants can continue to jerk off to my music thank you!!!! Good morning.” She then stated, “I want to be dropped from the labels. I’m done and tired.” The renowned songstress then replied to one of the social media users who claimed she folded after her recent interview. She snapped at the individual saying, “Shut up! The interview was the icing on the cake. I want to be free.”

Well, Ari did not stop there. A furious Ari shared that these judgemental self-hating parasites wouldn’t last a day as a signed artist. “For Christ sakes. I realize I have no hits. I realize you all can live without hearing my music. I realize my complaining is so aggravating to y’all . I don’t ask blogs to post me when I’m at my worst. You judgemental self hating parasites wouldn’t last a day as a signed artist”, said Ari while adding, “Complaining that I’m complaining about the s**t I’m going through meanwhile in real life you’re just as unhappy just as f**ked up. You crying in the car too. Somebody calling you insensitive and dramatic too. You could never be honest about your demons.” Ari, who is signed to Dreamville, also includes other artistes such as Bas, Cozz, Omen, Lute, JID, EarthGang, and Cole himself. The label is currently distributed through Interscope Records, a unit of Universal Music Group.

Why Ari Lennox vowed to never sit for interviews?

Ari Lennox claimed she felt “ambushed and blindsighted” after her controversial interview with the South African podcaster. The singer went on a rant saying that she will never sit for interviews or visit South Africa again. She, however, ended up deleting the tweets later. During her interview, they discussed her single ‘Pop’ which is an explicit track about determining someone’s intentions after sleeping with them. On the same lines, MacG asked her, “And where are we at right now? Is someone f**king you good right now?” This did not go down well with her as she cleared the air that she was not fine with the question.

While addressing the situation later, according to Complex, Ari tweeted, “I’m just like…why was I alone on a call full of people? Why didn’t anyone intervene? And why wasn’t parts of the interview destroyed like the team promised? Why did it happen to begin with? I just feel slow and ambushed and blindsighted.” She also posted, “Just because I happily and freely sing/write about sex don’t make any kind of creepy disrespect warranted. I clearly was in immense shock and hate that I didn’t react differently.”

Ari added, “I’ve been my most happiest creating music and exploring life sober. I’m not allowing anything to tamper with my peace anymore.” In her final tweet, according to the publication, the songstress took on the users who claimed she did not write her own songs. Controlling the narrative, Ari concluded, “I wrote every lyric on my Shea Butter album you worthless germ! I was completely shocked and have never in my life been asked such a distasteful and predatory question. Regardless of what the hell I wrote don’t give you losers the right to justify the disrespect.”
