The girl group AOA has been through a lot since former member Kwon Mina made news after she revealed that the former leader of the girl group - Shin Ji-min (Jimin) was a bully. Mina had alleged that Jimin and other AOA members had bullied her for years which was the real reason for her exit from the girl group. It is not new for K-pop idols to accuse other group members of bullying and considering the fact that bullying is a graver issue in South Korea than in the rest of the world, the accusations against Ji-min were taken very seriously.

Despite not being found guilty of bullying, Ji-min chose to quit the entertainment industry as she took a hiatus from group activities due to the scandal taking a toll on her mental health. Ever since the incident, Ji-min had been low-key as she was only spotted with her former members on certain occasions and she had completely quit promoting herself as an idol for a while. It seems like things are finally getting better for Ji-min as she signs a contract with a new label to restart her journey as an idol.

Shin Ji-min debuted with AOA back in 2012 and back in January of 2022 it was revealed that her 9-year contract with the label FNC Entertainment had officially ended. The label revealed that they were grateful for all the years Ji-min was a part of the girl group. With the statement, fans of the former idol and AOA member wondered if she would ever return to the girl group.

However, Ji-min was soft launching her comeback in the industry when she released a surprise song for fans titled 'Suddenly' on the occasion of her birthday. The single was proof for fans that Ji-min would soon be returning to the Entertainment industry and fans' hopes are finally coming true. On July 14 it was announced that Ji-min had signed with the label ALO MALO (Alo Malo) Entertainment. In their official statement, the label said, "We have recently signed an exclusive contract with Shin Ji-min."

The label also shared Ji-min's message to her fans via their official statement where the singer said, "I am greeting you from a new home/label. I have spent a long time reflecting on myself and have thought about a lot of things over that time." The label shared a new profile image of Shin Ji-min who has made a name for herself in the industry as an 'all-round' artist who is capable of vocal, rapping, and producing.
