Who is Andrew Marshall? 'The Voice' singer who battled cancer impresses Nick Jonas with his crooning skills
Andrew Marshall, a student at the University of Massachusetts, is finally ready to take on music full time. And what a platform to kick off that journey! Andrew joins the contestants of Season 20 of 'The Voice'.
The competition may be intense this year but Andrew certainly has what it takes when it comes to facing the challenge. He was diagnosed with leukemia in his junior year of high school, and while his friends attended school, Andrew had to undergo several treatments. Fortunately, Andrew has recovered and he recently celebrated his two-year cancer-free anniversary. He also has plenty of experiences to draw on for his music and like many other contestants on Season 20 of 'The Voice', he has some released music, including a five-song acoustic project called 'Letters from Lowell' which was released in 2018, and a three-song EP called 'Growing Pains'.
Taking about his music, Andrew says, "It’s crazy to think that I’ve been working on some of this music for over two years at this point. It’s a testament to getting kicked to the ground and standing back up, over and over… This is the music I’ve been meaning to make, the message I’ve been trying to send and I’ve been holding onto it for far too long.”

While obviously, Andrew is hoping to impress the judges on 'The Voice', there is another famous musician he has had as a mentor, John Mayer. He even showed John Mayer his first EP, 'Letters from Lowell'. Check out this Instagram post on just how Mayer encouraged Andrew with his music.
Coming back to his performance on 'The Voice', Andrew received something of a mixed reaction from fans of 'The Voice' about his performance.
A fan says, "Andrew is so cute I'm glad Nick turned #TheVoice." Others were left cold. One fan of 'The Voice' says, "Sorry, I'm going to have to pass on Andrew. #TheVoice".
