Did Amber Heard REALLY give SEVEN different testimonies? Witness statements spark Twitter war
As Johnny Depp's lawyers concluded the cross-examination of Amber Heard in the fifth week of her trial for defamation, the 'Aquaman' actress raised eyebrows after allegedly saying she gave "seven different witness statements" and "each one contained different testimony."
Heard, 36, is being sued by Depp, 58, for $50 million after she penned an op-ed in 2018 implying her ex-husband abused her. While she did not mention him by name, his lawyers have argued her allegations damaged his Hollywood prospects. Depp's lawyer Camille Vasquez challenged Heard's testimony, which covered the troubled relationship between the actors and detailed their alleged physical altercations.

The 'Never Back Down' actress was accused of staging a photo of cocaine on a breakfast table while being grilled about her claims of alleged incidents of sexual and physical assault. The defendant was also questioned about missing charitable donations she pledged as part of her divorce settlement with Depp. Meanwhile, the court was also shown footage of actor James Franco visiting her penthouse the night before she filed for divorce from her husband.

Depp's first act of violence against Heard, as per her earlier statement, occurred in early 2012. However, in her most recent testimony, she said that Depp began beating her "around early 2013." She said she had supplied an incorrect date for Depp's first aggressive assault. Heard added that the police came to their house several times throughout their relationship and that they discussed her therapist files to see if there were any instances of physical abuse. When asked why she did not remember these specific episodes, she explained that their relationship was "violent" and "chaotic," as well as "loving" and "emotional," and that the "violence was almost normal." Throughout their relationship, she claimed to have dealt with many different versions of Depp, and the two created a safe word amid fights: "couch." She stated that divorce was constantly mentioned in their relationship.
However, when prodded by Depp's lawyers, Heard allegedly said she "put in 7 witness statements" and that "each one contained different testimony." That statement raised eyebrows and sparked a wave of reactions on social media, with many accusing the embroiled star of lying and changing her testimony under oath.
"Amber Heard: "I put in 7 witness statements. Each one contained different testimony." She really just admitted to changing testimony under oath," one Twitter user wrote.

She really just admitted to changing testimony under oath.
"Yep...she's essentially testifying that her testimony thus far cannot be corroborated nor trusted," another agreed.
"It's been said she's guilty of perjury in the UK. Allegedly, that is. I don't think they can do anything about it, but it doesn't help AH's case, any. What a shame," a comment read.
"#AmberHeard has already changed her under oath testimony. Which version of events is the public expected to believe? Her 2016 depo videos? Her written statements for the UK trial? Her different verbal testimony in the UK? Or do we just run with the latest new versions in the US?" a user wondered.
"Of course she sees NOTHING WRONG with having SEVEN different testimonies...imo, to her, TESTIMONY is equivalent to SCRIPTS, she probably ALSO uses those words as SYNONYMS which is gold for JURORS 'cause they get to hear ALL the VERSIONS of her LIES," one alleged.
"That is because all 7 personalities had a different point of view," another quipped.

While it's unclear what Heard exactly meant by saying she submitted "7 different witness statements", there were many who rushed to the actress's defense and blamed "patriarchy" for not believing an alleged domestic violence victim.
"No what was meant is in UK law she has a right to make a statement of response to every witness statement made and thats what she did. She responded.. this is uk law right to reply," one fan argued against the claim that she changed her testimony.
"Amber did everything 'right' that survivors of abuse are told to do - document document - and yet she’s still being ridiculed and harassed and not believed, really showcasing the ways the patriarchy socializes people into taking the man’s side no matter what," another offered.
"This trial is a perfect example of how courts favor abusers in DV cases. Victims aren’t even allowed to tell the court during their own testimony who they told about the abuse they suffered, which is a major part of domestic violence assessment," a comment read.
"Can't anyone see that her testimonies revolve around her husband's drug abuse and how that had taken over? can't anyone see that that she was unraveling? she wasn't perfect, she was in way over her head. a kid, a "little girl" to quote johnny," someone else added.
"Until you can point to research studies exploring the injuries sustained and treatments sought by bottle r*pe survivors, I’m gonna need you to stfu about how “unrealistic” AH’s SA testimony is," another chimed in.
