Amanda Bynes asked to 'distance herself' from 'toxic' ex Paul Michael after 3-week mental health therapy
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Almost a month after being discovered wandering the streets of Los Angeles naked, Amanda Bynes was reportedly discharged from a mental health hospital. The 37-year-old actress was let out on Monday after receiving the all-clear from the medical personnel. On Wednesday, April 12, Bynes was first seen in public after leaving the mental health hospital following a three-week stay. She is now anticipated to begin her outpatient therapy. She will, however, continue to live in her house in an effort to preserve her independence.
According to insiders who spoke to Dailymail.com, the 37-year-old actress was spotted getting her nails done at a salon in Toluca Lake, California, as "she has been advised to continue to distance herself from her' from ex-fiance, Paul Michael. The California native was spotted at Cosmo Nails, where she allegedly smoked a cigarette while awaiting an Uber after getting her nails done.

Amanda Bynes on psychiatric hold 3 weeks after bipolar episode as she doesn't feel 'ready to leave'
Why was Amanda Bynes placed under psychiatric hold?
Bynes was most recently admitted to the hospital after it was reported that she spent four days straight strolling the streets of the Greater Los Angeles area after her car was towed in Long Beach on March 15. She allegedly experienced manic episodes during that time because she spent a while going around naked. She reportedly wandered the streets naked the day she was transported to the mental health facility. According to the Daily Mail, a witness claimed that she flagged down a car and requested assistance, claiming that she was recovering from a psychological attack.
Bynes called 911 and told them she was in a mental state and needed help. After being taken up, she was put on a 72-hour psychiatric hold. The medical staff at the facility decided to continue her treatment longer and came up with a strategy for it. The 'Easy A' actress, who quit acting in 2010, has twice been detained on suspicion of DUI. The former performer has been diagnosed with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.
Bynes completes three-week term at mental health facility
Bynes completed a three-week term at a mental health center where she was receiving psychiatric treatment. On Monday, April 11, the former actress voluntarily left the southern Californian facility. A source informed Dailymail.com, "Amanda has left the medical facility on her own recognizance. She was very cooperative, participated in her recovery the staff supported her decision to leave as she had successfully completed the treatment program."
According to the source, Bynes "has been advised to continue to distance herself from her ex Michael," and "her family and friends believe that her split was a catalyst in her breakdown and that he is not a healthy and safe person for her to be around." Bynes was previously placed under a conservatorship starting in 2013, but it was terminated last year, allowing her to regain more independence.
Why Amanda was advised to distance herself from her ex Michael?
The source continued, "They were codependent on each other, and the latter part of their relationship was toxic due, in part, to the fact that they met in rehab. They substituted their addiction to substances for an addiction for each other."
Nobody knew much about this mysterious man back in 2019 when Bynes announced her engagement to Michael in the since-deleted Instagram post. However, according to People, the couple first met around the end of 2019 and a source said Bynes looked happy at the time. The engagement itself was unexpected because Bynes was keeping it private. There is little information available about how, where, and via whom the former couple met.
The news of their recent split came just three months after Bynes declared Michael had relapsed on her Instagram story. As per TMZ, the LAPD informed the site that Michael called the cops on Bynes after a verbal argument, claiming she was on Adderall and was losing control and forcing him out of the house. Bynes also reached the police only out of concern for her own safety.
Bynes' nine-year conservatorship ended in 2022
MEAWW earlier reported that Bynes' nine-year conservatorship came to an end in 2022, and she is now free to make her own decisions. The source claims that the former actress's parents, Lynn and Rick Bynes, did not attempt to establish another conservatorship for her because she had been doing quite well prior to the bipolar episodes. "Amanda appreciates the love and support of her fans during this time. She thanks her family for never giving up. Now that the conservatorship has ended, she looks forward to completing her bachelor’s degree and living her life," said her lawyer David A Esquibias.
