Amanda Bynes NOT pregnant, says her lawyer days after she put up ultrasound on Instagram
Despite rumors suggesting otherwise, Amanda Bynes is not pregnant, her lawyer has insisted.
The 34-year-old former Nickelodeon star had previously all but confirmed that she was set for parenthood and was expecting her first child late in mid-March by sharing a series of now-deleted photographs on her Instagram page.
She had uploaded an ultrasound photo with the caption, "Baby on board!" while fiancé Paul Michael had similarly posted a photo slideshow which contained a selfie of them together, as well as an ultrasound image of the baby with Bynes' name on it.
He had captioned the post saying, "Baby in the making."
However, speaking to People, Bynes' lawyer, David Esquibias, said the actress was not expecting a baby. Another source close to her also revealed that she had left her sober living facility to check into a treatment center for continuing care of mental health issues.
Esquibias confirmed that she had not moved back to a sober living facility and added that the 34-year-old was "sheltering in a safe environment" amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Bynes had celebrated a year and two months of sobriety on March 1 and shared two photos of herself with two unidentified men to mark the occasion. "Celebrating being sober a year and two months!" she wrote.
She has struggled with substance abuse in the past and had announced an indefinite hiatus from acting in 2010 as she struggled with various personal problems. She is yet to make a return to Hollywood even after a decade later.
Her troubles were laid bare for the world to see in 2012 when she had a breakdown on Twitter. She was then hit by a DUI charge and arrested for marijuana possession after she was caught smoking a joint in the lobby of her Manhattan home and allegedly threw a bong out of the window of her 36th-floor apartment.
She was also detained for allegedly starting a fire in a stranger's driveway, which ultimately resulted in her parents being granted temporary guardianship and her being sent to rehab for 6 months for displaying erratic behavior.
Bynes has since been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and seemed to have put her troubles behind her when she announced this past Valentine's Day that she had gotten engaged to the "love of my life," Michael after she met him at an AA meeting at the end of 2019.
In a photo she uploaded on Instagram, she showed off her engagement ring in an up-close photo of her hand, with a source stating at the time that she "seems happy."
However, less than a month later, Michael confirmed to In Touch Weekly that they had broken up, but added, "I love her though, she’s my best friend." Bynes had subsequently removed the Valentine’s Day announcement pictures from her page as well.
Then, in another twist, the couple reunited in early March, with the actress posting a selfie of them together and captioning it, "My Love." Shortly after, she had announced her pregnancy, though it now looks like it was a false confirmation.
