'Altered Carbon' Season 2: Release date, plot, trailer and all you need to know about Netflix sci-fi series
'Altered Carbon' is a science fiction web television series on Netflix created by Laeta Kalogridis. Set in a futuristic San Francisco called Bay City, the show takes place over 360 years later in 2384 where a person's memories can be easily tampered with and replaced. Based on Richard K Morgan’s 2002 cyberpunk novel of the same name, the series scored an Emmy nod for Outstanding Special Visual Effects.
In a surprising change of cast, the leading role of Takeshi Kovacs, the former Envoy with mercenary skills, will be played by Anthony Mackie in season two. Joel Kinnaman played the role in the first season. The story's plot revolves around the fact that when a synthetic body called a "sleeve" dies, his or her "stack" can be transferred to new bodies, theoretically implying that one can live forever. Hence, the character will have a new face now.
Release date
The second season is all set to premiere on Netflix this February 27, 2020. A date announcement promo was released by Netflix and captioned, "Your re-sleeving is now complete. 2.27.20. #AlteredCarbon."

Plot
The official summary of the plot on Netflix for season two is yet to be revealed. In season one, the storyline revolved around prisoner Takeshi Kovacs (played by Joel Kinnaman) who returns to life in a new body after 250 years under ice with one chance to win his freedom: by solving a mind-bending murder.
While the first season wrapped up with Kovacs bringing closure to the murder in a highly action-packed finale, there was no apparent cliffhanger. The buzz around season two is that it will be set 30 years after the events of 'Altered Carbon' season one and involves corporate wars on alien planets and Martian artifacts that open portals to outer space.

The trailer for Season 2 was released on February 11 and we see how Takeshi Kovacs has been re-sleeved and fitted with the latest technology from Khumalo Bioware "for military use only" that comes with "rapid healing, enhanced reaction time among other bells and whistles". Tak is back in a place that he promised he would never return - to Harlan's World and he is back because he is still searching for "her".
