'Almost Family' Episode 3 'Notorious AF' preview: Julia's dirty laundry is out in the open
Spoilers ahead for Season 1 Episode 2 'Related AF' of 'Almost Family'
'Almost Family' episode 2 ended with Julia (Brittany Snow) taking over the Bechley clinic after Isaac (Mustafa Elzein) had schemed to have her out. Julia also sees her newly found sister Edie (Megalyn Echikunwoke), who is now also her father Dr Leon Bechley's (Timothy Hutton) defence attorney, make out with the prosecutor Amanda Doherty (Victoria Cartagena). She keeps her Tim (Mo McRae) from making the discovery by walking away with him. At the same time, Leon decides to help Roxy (Emily Osment) with her drug problem.
Episode 3 'Notorious AF' is set to give us more insight into each of these fronts. Specifically Edie and Amanda.
In the promo shared by the network for the next episode 'Notorious AF', we see Julia confront Edie with what she knows. "I saw you kissing the woman who is prosecuting my father", she tells Edie. To which Edie responds, "I am happily married to the greatest guy in the world." Edie has gotten defensive about her relationship with Tim several times. It only shows that she might have something to hide.
Edie and Amanda split up. But make out the next instant.
Elsewhere, Julia's secret is out there. If you remember, Julia has a brush with a handsome fellow named Sam (Chris Conroy) in the pilot episode. They have sex in the bathroom of a bar, and it was supposed to only be a one-time thing. To her surprise, Sam shows up at the Bechley clinic the next day, which is when news of Leon Bechley's fertility fraud has gone viral. Sam is there with his wife to pick up the DNA testing kit. When his wife asks if he knows Julia from before, he tells her that they met at an AA meeting.
But in 'Notorious AF', Sam is back. And going by the promo, it is not a fruitful interaction. "You lied to me. Now I am in a living nightmare", she is seen telling him. In the next scene, she is justifying to Sam's wife that she wasn't aware he was married, which indicates that the wife found out about their one-night stand. Or that he was her brother. It will be fun to see how this will work out.
After leaving her parents' house, Roxy had spent time with her real father Leon Bechley in the previous episode. The promo shows her mother Diane (Victoria Clark) telling Amanda that she is ready to testify against Leon. Roxy is seen telling her, "Don't mess up my new life before it gets started." Why is Diane testifying against Bechley? Is it because it is the right thing to do or because doing so might bring back her daughter Roxy, and along with that the money that she makes. We must wait to find out.
'Almost Family' airs on Wednesdays at 9 PM ET/PT.
