Over the last six years, the co-ed group KARD has become one of the many fan-loved groups. Despite coming from a comparatively smaller label like DSP Media, the group has amassed a successful fandom that loves and encourages members throughout all their ups and downs. KARD officially made its debut back in July 2017 with members BM, Jiwoo, Somin, and J Seph. With the sheer dedication and hard work of members, the mixed group has successfully completed a new comeback album with 'Re:' and is now planning to continue their careers as a group.

The recent album is a success as its lead single, 'Ring The Alarm', is viral on Korean TikTok because of the K-pop idols that are participating in its dance challenge with member, BM. Now, on July 7, the label DSP Media shared the news about the future of KARD which fans were initially not thrilled about but are willing to extend their support to the members. The label stated that all four members of the co-ed group have chosen to renew their contracts with the label for the future.

KARD renews contract with DSP Media

Contracts maturing and being renewed is possibly the best news for most K-pop group fandoms. In certain cases, when labels do not help groups reach their full potential, fans hope that the groups move on to a newer label that would do them better. Oftentimes, it is difficult for all members of a group to re-sign together with a new label which is why fans wish for groups to stay together and manage what's best for them rather than disbanding. So is the case for DSP Media which has not really helped the group KARD reach its full potential so far.

In their official statement, DSP Media revealed that after a discussion about future activities of the group members of KARD namely BM, J Seph, Somin, and Jiwoo, all decided that they would re-sign new contracts with the label. The label said, "A deep consensus was formed and all members renewed their contracts for another three years". DSP Media ended its statement with a promise to give KARD full support so that the group can perform vigorously both domestically and abroad in the future.

'KARD could do better than DSP'

Fans however are skeptical about the renewing of KARD members' contracts with the label. One fan said, "DSP having Youngji and KARD renew their contract with them.. I wonder what are the terms or deals they agreed upon." Another fan said, "KARD renew their contract w the dsp I hope this means good news." Another said, "They all renewed their contract, they’re truly happy working together." Another fan said, "KARD renewed contract DSP do your jobs." One wrote, "KARD could do better than dsp but glad they’re staying a group. Future is looking bright," while another said: "#KARD renewed their Contract With @official_DSP media for 3 years. Yo DSP, you better treat 'em right .... 3 more years, we Hidens are watching you."

A fan said, "KARD RENEWED WITH DSP/RBW!?!? they better be treated right you hear me!?" Another wrote: "Now that KARD has renewed their contract in DSP, please give them a better stylist that would give Jiwoo, BM, and J.seph better outfits!!!! Please make their costumes more coordinated." One wrote, "I'm happy because they would be together longer but I hope this time dsp would promote them better in sk." Another fan said, "DSP not letting go of their money makers in terms of touring.. I hope the group would be treated better and be promoted well esp in SK now." One more fan said, "Treat them better! They did dsp a favor by renewing their contracts."
