Alec Baldwin's pals worried about 'unhealthy' 20lb weight loss after 'Rust' manslaughter charges dropped
SANTA FE, NEW MEXICO: Alec Baldwin’s drastic weight loss after the whole 'Rust' legal chaos, has reportedly unnerved his loved ones, who fear that his eating habits can lead to ‘potential heart problems’. The 65-year-old ‘Pixie’ actor was charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter after a live bullet from a prop gun fatally struck cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the New Mexico sets of 'Rust' in October 2021.
After a long court proceeding, the prosecutor finally dropped the manslaughter charges against Baldwin in April 2023. Prosecutors said the case against Baldwin will not be pursued further but they may re-file after "further investigation."
"This decision does not absolve Mr Baldwin of criminal culpability and charges may be refiled,” they stated. Although Baldwin's charges were dropped, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the movie's armorer, is still facing two counts of involuntary manslaughter. Guiterrez-Reed has entered a not-guilty plea to the charges.

‘He’s had a history of yo-yo dieting’
The situation took a toll on Baldwin who now has been peeling off his weight, according to the sources. Last month, the actor was seen walking around New York City with what seemed to be a glucose monitor on his upper left arm and appeared slimmer than he has in years. Reflecting on his recent outing, an insider told RadarOnline that “He’s had a history of yo-yo dieting, and with his hot temper and eating habits, he’s a prime candidate for high blood pressure and potential heart problems."

“He’s gone cold turkey on carbs and sugar and shocked his system into losing 20 pounds of fat. But make no mistake, this is by no means a healthy guy!” the tipster continued. Baldwin admitted in 2012 that he had pre-diabetes and needed to make significant lifestyle adjustments. The insider added that Baldwin was “beyond stressed about [returning to shoot Rust]” before prosecutors decided to drop charges against him. “Between his legal woes and the trauma of what happened, he feels sick to his stomach,” they continued.
'I owe everything I have to this woman'
This came just days after Baldwin resumed shooting the upcoming movie ‘Rust’ at the Yellowstone Film Ranch in Paradise Valley, Montana. According to The New York Post, a video from the Montana set showed the actor clutching a gun by its barrel in his right hand while sporting a grey shirt, grey slacks, a brown topcoat, and matching boots. It was also revealed that Baldwin recently hired acclaimed documentary maker Rory Kennedy to film a project about ‘Rust’.
Rory, who happens to be the sister of presidential candidate Bobby Jr, has been tasked with filming Baldwin’s every move during the filming of the ill-fated movie on the new film set arranged in Livingston. Previously, Baldwin praised wife Hilaria for her unwavering support during the court proceeding. He took to Instagram on April 20 to share a romantic picture of his wife, with whom he has been married since 2012. “I owe everything I have to this woman,” he wrote in the caption. Married for more than a decade, Baldwin and Hilaria share seven children, Carmen, 9, Rafael, 7, Leonardo, 6, Romeo, 4, Eduardo, 2, Maria, 2, and six-month-old Ilaria.
