'Messy Journalism': Aisha Tyler blasts website after being MISTAKEN for Sasha Obama

Aisha called out the publication for the mix-up: 'I'll assume that was due to my buoyant, youthful appearance & not just messy journalism'

Aisha Tyler, American actress, comedian, director, and talk-show host, called out a publication after being mistakenly identified as Sasha Obama on Monday, February 28. The 'Ghost Whisperer' actress set the record straight by sharing the screengrab of the article published by the Daily Mail in which Aisha was mistakenly labeled as the youngest daughter of the former president Barack Obama. 

The 51-year-old actress tweeted, "Dear @DailyMailUK: I VERY much appreciate you mistaking me for the lovely 20-year-old Sasha Obama. I'll assume that was due to my buoyant, youthful appearance & not just messy journalism." In the picture featured by the Daily Mail, Aisha was seen grinning ear to ear as she walked over to greet power couple Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z at the Los Angeles hotspot, Mother Wolf.

Aisha went on to say, "Regardless, it was fantastic to see the legendary @Beyonce & Jay-Z at dinner. They were dazzling and gracious (especially to my friend @JarettSays, just out of frame) & the meal at #motherwolfla was truly spectacular. Can't wait to go back!."

Fans were clearly amused by the mishap as one commented, "One of the better corrections I've seen in my lifetime." Another wrote, "TL Cleanse. On another episode of 'They Think We All Look Alike'". A third added, "Bwahahaha! That's the Daily Fail for you." A fourth pitched in, "LOL. It's the shady read for me. I absolutely knew that wasn't Sasha" using the hashtag #Wedontlookalike. Someone else commented, "Ok I knew I wasn't tripping when I read that article." Another wrote, "But you look that good to be mistaken for a twenty year old, there's that? #BrightSide?" following a laughing sticker and heart emoji. Commenting on Aisha's attire, one added, "Why you dressed like you fix carburetors?". Another chimed in, "I just don’t understand why they would think this was Sasha. And why is she dressed like Loretta Davine in Being Mary Jane?". 
 

Meanwhile, the Obamas and the music icons do have a longstanding friendship. The Carters were among the guests at the former president's 60th birthday bash last summer.
