In recent years, we have seen technology reaching greater heights. A lot of things are being done through AI-powered machines and although these machines make our work pretty easy, the threat of Artificial Intelligence completely taking over everything always keeps on looming on us.

There have been various movies or TV shows which give us an insight into what our future might look like. It’s always shown that machines will take over and man will be a slave to all these AI-powered robots. However, most of the time, AI is shown in a bad light and portrayed as something that doesn’t have the power of feeling love. So, Netflix has upped the game by showing what happens when an AI falls in love with a girl in the latest movie ‘AI Love You’.

The movie revolves around a girl named Lana, who is trying to make it big in her work by making an impression on the clients. Meanwhile, an AI system named Dob is helping her in everything. Besides her work, Lana is also trying to have a relationship and her friend keeps on setting her up with several men. Her latest date, Bob, acted like an alpha male during the date and was really pathetic. But Lana had to make the presentation for the clients and Dob, the AI helps her in achieving success. The AI accidentally says “I love you” to her and even though, she feels the same but says no because it’s a machine. The next day, we see Bob coming to vising Lana’s building to solve the AI problem and he gets to know that AI is filled with videos of Lana. When Bob threatens that he is going to delete the files to make the AI work perfectly, the AI downloads itself to Bob’s body and then, the fun begins.

The premise of the story is quite basic, there are no complications here. However, the way the story has been shown on screen is adorable and the chemistry between Pimchanok Luevisadpaibul (Lana) and Mario Maurer (Bobby) is really amazing. Although the movie is about love when the matters are related to AI and heart, there are always people who want to destroy both of them. So, the building owner believes that the AI has gone rogue and it needs to be reinstalled. So, he calls The Hawk, a man who is given the task to destroy the AI and wipe out the guy’s mind.

The best thing about the movie is that never gets too heavy on you. Yes, there are moments where you are sad for the characters, but the film continues to provide you with ample light-hearted moments that keep you hooked. The story is quite unique, but sometimes the movie feels too rushed and that’s the only issue with the movie.

As far as acting is concerned, Pimchanok Luevisadpaibul as Lana is phenomenal. The young actress from Thailand has turned out to be one of the brightest talents in world cinema and with this role, she has shown how good she is in her art. As Lana, she is cute, strong-headed, and fierce. Now, I don’t know if the fight scenes in the movie were done by her or not, but if they were, she is really, really good at it.

On the other hand, Mario Maurer as Bobby is incredible. At first, you would find him really annoying, but his transition from being annoyed to lovable is really great. The way he behaves when the AI enters his body is really funny and viewers will definitely love it.

All in all, the movie is a cute reminder that machines might have feelings as well and it’s not like every machine wants to destroy you, but they are capable of love as well. ‘AI Love You’ is a cute sci-fi romance with great leading actors.

'AI Love You' is currently streaming on Netflix.
