'Aggretsuko' Season 3: As Haida and Retsuko end in cliffhanger, fans say not knowing their fate 'breaks heart'
Spoilers for 'Aggretsuko' Season 3
Netflix's most popular anime series has returned for a third season, and fans have quickly binged through the 10-episode season and are hungry for more. The season's big cliffhanger has them especially hyped, as the long-suffering Haida (Shingo Kato/Ben Diskin) may have finally gotten what he's waited for, for years: a relationship with Retsuko (Kaolip/Rarecho/Erica Mendez/Jamison Boaz). However, the show ends on a cliffhanger, with Retsuko possibly suggesting the two go out for lunch despite her telling Haida earlier that his feelings were unwelcome.
Fans have mixed feelings about the cliffhanger, desperate for a clear answer despite having loved the season. The cliffhanger left a lot of things unresolved, as both Haida and Retsuko aired out their frustrations with each other. Though Retsuko has repeatedly said that she does not appreciate Haida's feelings being forced onto her, Haida makes the case that together, the two can be a team against the pressures of the world — and the scene changes before we see Retsuko's answer to this.
The fans are wishing for a clearer ending: "So... I stayed up all night watching aggretsuko season three... it was pretty good, but it left on a cliffhanger. I honestly felt like the series could've ended if it had better closure. I mean, I'm glad for more aggretsuko, but it left me with some questions."

However, the unclear ending does not mean the fans did not enjoy the season's end. One fan writes, "Holy SHIT Aggretsuko!!! This is easily my favorite season, and one of my favorite anime ever after this. I'm pretty sure this is the end too, considering how it ends, and while that breaks my heart, I am incredibly grateful for what we got! The last two episodes were INTENSE!!"

Another fan says, "Aggretsuko always brings the pain at the end of every joyous season, but they really turned it up a notch for season 3. I won't spoil it, but they really, really went all-out with the visual element too. This show is criminally under-watched and I will stan it to my grave."

There are those fans who are happy with the way the series ended, as it does not cut to Retsuko and Haida in love with each other, but as longtime colleagues who are just starting to get to know each other in a romantic context — which takes time. "A good romance takes time and it looks like they’re finally trying to get to know one another on more personal terms at least," writes a fan.

As for what happens next, that's something that the fans are just going to have to wait for until Season 4 is released.
