The final season of 'Agents of SHIELD' is leaving no stone unturned. After delivering two shocking episodes, the promo for Episode 3 sees the return of Daniel Sousa from 'Agent Carter.' This proved that news of familiar characters returning to the show was true. It was previously announced that Enver Gjokaj would don the fedora and reprise his role from the other Marvel TV hit series. Gjokaj was seen in two seasons of the series and his character arc ended with the series cancellation in 2016.

Sousa was one of Peggy's coworkers and there was also a bit of romance between the duo. With 'Agents of SHIELD' currently time-traveling, Sousa is back and has left fans impatient about how he fits into the storyline. Titled 'Alien Commies from the Future!', the episode talks about Area 51 and also re-introduces Sousa at the end of the 30-second clip. While much of the storyline remains a closely-guarded secret, fans have theorized that Sousa's return means the agents are somewhere in the 1950s.

The target of the Chronicoms now is a "space weapon" and there is a screenrant theory that Sousa has something to do with it. If so, that would make for an interesting storyline. With Coulson (Clark Gregg) specifying Area 51, it is also interesting to see if the episode will have any connection to the famed location. You can watch the promo below:

According to Den of Geek, the synopsis reads: "A surprise leap forward in time has stranded Enoch in 1931 and landed the team in yet another unfamiliar decade. Now, in order to stop the Chronicoms from launching their newest future-dismantling plan, the agents will have to infiltrate one of SHIELD's most secure bases. They won’t be able to succeed without help from a familiar face or two."

Agents of SHIELD stars Clark Gregg as  Phil Coulson, Chloe Bennet as Daisy, Ming-Na Wen as May, Henry Simmons as Mack, Iain de Caestecker as Fitz, Elizabeth Henstridge as Simmons, Natalia Cordova-Buckley as Yoyo, and Jeff Ward as Deke. What are your thoughts on Daniel Sousa's role in Episode 3?

'Agents of SHIELD' airs on Wednesdays at 10 pm ET on ABC.
