'Girls': aespa becomes ONLY girl group in K-pop history to record 1.6 million pre-orders
Looks like aespa is ready to take over K-pop with their upcoming comeback album, 'Girls'. As soon as it was announced that SM Entertainment's four-member girl group aespa (Aespa) would be releasing their second mini-album, a lot of buzz around its success was seen. Soon after its announcement, the album racked up a million pre-orders from fans without any teasers or spoilers from the label making them the second girl group in the history of K-pop to record a million-seller with their new release.
Over the last few weeks, aespa also dropped a lot of new content for the promotion of their second mini-album, 'Girls'. After making their debut with 'Black Mamba', the multiverse girl group has been tasting success like no other K-pop girl group in the history of the genre. Soon after their debut they also released hits like 'Next Level' and 'Savage'. Their first mini-album 'Savage' was released with six tracks and now months after its success, aespa will be making a comeback with 'Girls', their second mini-album featuring 10 tracks in total including six new singles.

aespa records 1.6 million pre-orders with 'Girls'
On July 7, it was announced by SM Entertainment that aespa's upcoming release 'Girls' has already surpassed 1.6 million pre-orders making them the only girl group in the history of K-pop to do so bagging a new record for the monster rookies. The label stated that with 'Girls', aespa had recorded a total of 1,610,517 sales *as of July 7, proving their monster rookie status. With this, aespa is not only the fastest girl group to record 1.6 million pre-orders but have also defeated Blackpink in making the most sales with their upcoming album.
The upcoming album from aespa includes six new tracks including the title track 'Girls' and their pre-release single, 'Life's Too Short', one that they performed at the 2022 Coachella. 'Life's Too Short' will be released in both Korean and English versions alongside tracks like 'Illusion', 'Lingo', 'ICU. Other older songs like 'Black Mamba', 'Forever', and 'Dreams Come True' that decorated the discography of aespa over the last two years are also included in their upcoming album as bonus tracks.
Thanking fans for the 1.6 million sales record, aespa said, "We were surprised and happy that the pre-orders exceeded 1.61 million," they said, "As much as you waited for the new album for a long time, we have prepared hard and worked hard too." They continued, "It is overwhelming to set a good record from the start." aespa released 'Girls' on July 8, 2022.
