ABBA reunites after 40 years

ABBA took to their official Twitter account to announce the big news with their fans. A brand new Twitter page was also formed with the username ‘ABBAVoyage’ where they further spilled the beans on their new album and digital concert. A fresh picture of all the four members dubbed as “ABBA-tars” was also released where we could see the members posing in space suits referring to the name of their album ‘Voyage’.

With the help of a Livestream event, ABBA also debuted two brand new singles from the album namely ‘I Still Have Faith In You’ and ‘Don’t Shut Me Down’- the former of which was originally announced in early 2020. In one of their tweets, the band shared, “ABBA ARE BACK with ‘Voyage’, a brand new album and revolutionary concert. Listen to two brand new songs now and pre-order ‘Voyage’ from the official store for first access to tickets. For more info, link in our bio.” Speaking in an official statement, Ulvaeus asserted, “The Voyage project has injected new life into us in more ways than one”, adding, “So, again, thanks for waiting! We hope to see you in the 'ABBA Arena' and yes- see-because we have infused a good deal of our souls into those avatars. It’s not an exaggeration to say that we’re back.”

Shedding light on their comeback, the band said, as reported by NBC, “It’s been a while since we made music together. Almost 40 years, actually. We took a break in the spring of 1982 and now we’ve decided it’s time to end it. The inspiration to record again came from the band's "involvement in creating the strangest and most spectacular concert you could ever dream of.”

Where are all the members of ABBA?

Selling close to 400 million albums globally, ABBA is undoubtedly one of the top pop groups the music lovers ever saw. During the band's main active years, it consisted of two married couples i.e. Faltskog and Ulvaeus and Lyngstad and Andersson. While they enjoyed the superstardom in the late '70s, Bjorn and Agnetha divorced in 1979, while Benny and Frida announced their divorce two years later- leading to the fall out of the band in 1982.

The men of ABBA, Benny, and Bjorn later joined hands on a musical called ‘Chess’ and performed extensively over the years. It ultimately led to the highly successful musical ‘Mamma Mia’ that was penned around 24 of ABBA’s biggest hits. Bjorn even later campaigned to make Sweden a cash-free society after his son got robbed. He later also worked with the late EDM DJ Avicii composing the theme to the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest. Speaking of Anni-Frid Lyngstad, she went on to have a solo career and even dropped a successful album called ‘Something’s Going On’ with Phil Collins.  The album peaked at number 41 on the Billboard 200 chart. She later dropped more albums in English and Swedish.  Taking about Faltskog, she too opted for a solo career and exploded with her debut solo album ‘Wrap Your Arms Around Me’.  She continued to drop albums till 1988. She later took a long hiatus from the music industry to dedicate her free time to horseback riding, yoga, and astrology.
