Spoilers for 'A Very Charming Christmas Town'

Haven’t we all wished for a magical hideaway? Well, little did vlogger city girl Aubrey Lang (Natalie Hall) know something like that existed until she was asked by her sister to visit the most-Christmassy town in the USA for a travel story. The Lifetime movie navigates Aubrey’s journey to the village of Solvang, which looks like a rip off of a tourist storybook.

When Aubrey arrives in Solvang, the first emotion that strikes her is the natural disapproval of the town, which was too “touristy” for the travel blogger. She tells herself she couldn’t wait to write a critical review about the town which has gained a nationwide reputation for being what it is. Life, of course, had different plans for Aubrey. She gets nearly run over by a three-wheeled motorbike on her first day in town and the host of the “B&B” that she is staying at is a little too clingy for the uppity city girl.

Call it her poor luck or a coincidence, town’s popular guy and chocolatier Sawyer (Jon Prescott), who had previously encountered Chloe on the streets, get assigned as her tour guide. What makes ‘A Very Charming Christmas’ appealing is the fact that it has used just the right amount of humor to retain your attention. Aubrey and Sawyer’s constant bickering over Danish chocolates and the city’s architecture and more is fun to watch and goes well with the overall story arc.

Aubrey’s opinion of the town changes her extended stay as she can be seen spending more time with her host family and Sawyer, whom she’s now attracted to. But, all the magic that the village of Solvang had to offer Aubrey gets wiped off when Sawyer and the rest of her friends find out what she had to say about their town in her review story. Again, the movie has gracefully shifted from romantic-comedy to drama with a single twist, that serves well for the plot.

The feel-good factor headlines ‘A Welcome Home Christmas’ while the raw decor of the small village adds a magical sense to it. Natalie Hall has pulled her role off well as Aubrey, while Jon Prescott’s character is refreshing. Overall ‘A Very Charming Christmas Town’ is a light-hearted delightful watch.

‘A Very Charming Christmas Town’ premieres on November 8 at 8 pm ET on Lifetime.
