'A Rose for Her Grave: The Randy Roth Story’ on Lifetime: Who is Laura Ramsey's Cindy Roth?
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: This month, Lifetime's slate is primarily filled with ripped-from-the-headlines titles and true crime films based on books by best-selling author Ann Rule. This Lifetime movie is based on the book, 'A Rose for Her Grave and Other True Cases' based mainly on Randy Roth, who murdered two of his wives for insurance money, as well as other cases, including those of Dick Marquette, a convicted Oregon serial killer.
The official synopsis of the true crime film, 'A Rose For Her Grave: The Randy Roth Story' reads, "Following the death of her husband, single mom Cindy (Laura Ramsey), finally finds love again with mechanic Randy Roth (Colin Egglesfield) but her wedded bliss soon turns dark when she discovers another side of Randy. Despite the pleas of her best friend Lori (Chrishell Stause) to leave her marriage, Cindy never gets that opportunity after she drowns during a trip to a lake with Randy and the kids. Emotionless following Cindy's death, Randy orders her immediate cremation, takes custody of Cindy's son, and attempts to collect on her life insurance policy. Determined to find the truth and get Cindy's son away from his deceitful stepfather, Lori uncovers more of Randy's past, discovering that Cindy may not have been the first wife murdered at his hands."

Who is Laura Ramsey's Cindy Roth?
Cindy Roth who was previously known as Cynthia Loucks Baumgartner was born in 1957. She was the child of an older couple who had a teenage son and had been trying unsuccessfully for years to have another baby. Raised in a deeply religious family, she married Tom Baumgartner at the age of 21, and their sons Tyson and Rylie were born in 1979 and 1981. Cynthia was well-provided with various survivors' benefits and the support of her family and close friend Lori Baker, so she didn't need to work. Since she refused to marry a divorced man due to her religious beliefs, Randy told her nothing about his marriages.
How did Cindy Roth die in real life?
After they got married, just a few weeks short of their first wedding anniversary, the couple took Cynthia's two sons on a day trip to Lake Sammamish, the same lake where Ted Bundy had abducted two young women years earlier. As on the day of the Bundy abductions, it was hot when the Roths arrived and the beach was crowded. Randy and Cynthia left the boys to play in the designated swimming area while they paddled their 11 feet (3.4 m) inflatable raft into deeper waters. Several hours later Randy returned with Cynthia dead or nearly dead from drowning. She was treated at the scene and transported to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. Randy claimed that the wake from a speedboat had caused the raft to flip while Cynthia was swimming next to it and she had drowned as a result.
