Netflix's Christmas movies continue to spread the festive spirit with some truly heartwarming movies. If it was 'A Castle for Christmas' starring Brooke Shields earlier last month, then December will see the return of Callie and Joseph in the sequel to the hit Yuletide flick, 'A California Christmas' that was released last year. The plot was simple and that of another Christmas miracle as it saw a big businessman sent to a ranch to get hold of a land deal, and life pleasantly surprising him as he meets love.

The first film was a passion project for Lauren Swickard, who created, wrote, and co-produced the film, in addition to starring in it as the lead character, Callie, alongside her real-life husband Josh Swickard, who plays Joseph. And ahead of the sequel's release, here are five things to know.

What is the Christmas flick all about

The official logline per Netflix, reads: "It’s been a year since Callie and Joseph fell in love, and they’re happier than ever running their dairy farm and winery until business and family obligations call him back to the city — and threaten to derail their romance."

Lauren Swickard, also known professionally as Lauren or Lorynn York, is an actress, writer, and producer who stars as Callie, a rancher who has dedicated her life to the ranch she owns and is unwilling to sell it off to a larger company. She also created, wrote, produced the film, one of the few films to have started production and wrapped it during the pandemic. Co-starring is her real-life husband, who reprises his role after appearing in the first movie as a smooth-talking business executive who goes undercover as a rancher on Callie's farm despite his complete lack of farming experience.

Writer/Director

Shaun Paul Piccinino serves as the director based on the writing by Lauren Swickard.
