Alicia Keys celebrates 20 years of ‘Songs in a Minor’ at 2021 Billboard Music Awards, fans say 'she doesn't miss'

Keys performed a medley of her hit singles from her debut album and got all the fans nostalgic

The 2021 Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs) saw some of the top global artists taking it to the renowned stage and one of them was the legendary crooner Alicia Keys, who not only stunned everybody with her red carpet outfit but also showed her exceptional piano skills with her soulful voice on the stage.

The award ceremony was special for the songstress as she marked 20 years of her debut album ‘Songs in a Minor’. She performed a medley of her hit singles from the album and got all the fans nostalgic. Decked up in a formal outfit teamed up with a hat, the 40-year-old crooner enthralled her fans with the album’s intro song ‘Piano & I’ and then went on to perform ‘A Woman's Worth’, ‘How Come You Don't Call Me’ and ‘Fallin’.

‘We're definitely celebrating tonight’

Speaking to E! News ahead of her performance on the big stage, Keys, who is a nine-time BBMA winner, said, “We're definitely celebrating tonight. It is the 20-year anniversary of my very first album, Songs in A Minor. Baby Alicia was on the scene. It's such an honor. It's feeling so beautiful.” Apart from the Grammy-winning singer, ICON Award recipient Pink also delivered a daring, show-stopping performance at the award show.



 

 ‘Alicia Keys was a blast of nostalgia’

Fans sitting at home enjoyed the mesmerizing performance and recalled the good old days as they took to Twitter to talk about the same. One fan stated, “Oh alicia keys...just imagine her voice with taehyung’s deep vocal what a beautiful masterpiece it would be.” Another said, “This is why I have high expectations from artists, I grew up admiring Alicia Keys and P!nk.” One user posted, “Alicia Keys is really an icon. The way she was running the charts in the early 2000s was ridiculous, and her music is still good. She just doesn’t miss. I love the talent.”
 
The next one shared, “Alicia keys really stepped on the scene and SHOOK the table when all the girlies were up and dancing.” One user tweeted, “I love watching Alicia Keys perform her hits on several pianos at BBMA” whereas, one fan concluded, “I'm having some coffee and watching the BBMA... seeing Alicia Keys was blast of nostalgia, I loved Songs in A Minor so so much.”



 



 



 



 



 



 



 

Rapper DaBaby, who gave several hits in 2020, has earned 11 nods. Pop Smoke and Juice WRLD also earned multiple posthumous nominations sitting at the third position with 10 and 7 nods respectively. The controversial country musician Morgan Wallen has also got six nominations this year.   Drake, who holds the title for most Billboard Music Award wins of all time, will receive the Artist of the Decade Award. Houston-based rapper and social activist Trae Tha Truth will receive the second annual Change Maker Award for his unwavering dedication to fighting for, and delivering, social and medical equity in his community.

The BBMAs are currently being streamed live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on NBC. The award ceremony started at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT.
