YK Osiris releases new music video for 'Freaky Dancer' featuring rapper DaBaby
YK Osiris—aka Osiris Williams—is a young, charismatic 21-year-old Florida rapper and R&B vocalist who began releasing his blend of classic R&B and infectious hip-hop to every-growing approval over the past few years.
He originally uploaded songs under his given name, Osiris, and released his single 'Fake Love' in 2017 before taking on the YK Osiris moniker. His early singles like 'Loyalty' in 2017 and 'I'm Next (Freestyle)' in 2018 earned him millions of plays on streaming media platforms, and people started to take notice.
The buzz surrounding the young rapper began to attract attention from record labels and their interest was further intensified with the release of his single 'Valentine.' The heartfelt Valentine's Day love song was a make-it-or-break-it ultimatum to his girlfriend when they were going through a rough patch. 'Valentine' was a massive hit, amassing over nine million listens within just a few weeks.
A remix of the song featuring a cameo from Lil Uzi Vert appeared shortly thereafter, and Osiris was soon fielding offers from various interested labels, before eventually signing with Def Jam Recordings in March 2018. He then released a video for 'Valentine' in May, which has over 10 million views.
In early 2019, he entered the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time with 'Worth It.' That song, along with another single, 'Shakira', was selected to appear on Osiris' debut album, 'The Golden Child', which dropped in October 2019.
Osiris was chosen to be part of the XXL Freshman Class 2019, which is one of the biggest achievements any young artist could ever dream of.
He even boasted (in a now-deleted post) on Instagram, "I'm the king of RNB of this generation. Hands down just wait and y'all will know why it's facts #NEW #KING."
To his credit, the facts might just uphold his case for future world domination—he had over 194 million streams on Spotify in 2019 alone. There aren't too many 21-year-olds who can boast of a record deal with Def Jam records and being able to rub shoulders with Jay-Z, Kanye West and P Diddy.
To date, his achievements include getting co-signs from Drake and Chris Brown and collaborations with NBA Youngboy, A Boogie wit Da Hoodie, Chance the Rapper, Gucci Mane and DaBaby.
And now, we have a video of his latest tag-team with DaBaby.
'Freaky Dancer' is a fun, club-friendly banger, complete with a bevy of black beauties shaking their big booties while Osiris and DaBaby sing about throwing money in clubs, fast cars, and wild women getting their freak on.
