Spoilers for 'Yellowstone' Season 3 Episode 9 'Meaner than Evil'

Like most large production dramas, Paramount's hit Western drama 'Yellowstone' has that one character who no one likes. The reasons are as numerous as they are unrelated, but that doesn't keep fans from going easy on them. Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley) doesn't have many people liking him, and while their reasons are aplenty, many just have to do with his very presence.

"Jamie speaks and I just roll my eyes," a fan tweeted, and that is only one of many such reactions.

The latest episode of Season 3 doesn't bring any respite for the man either. After finding out that he is adopted, he is overcome by curiosity and gets set to visit his real father Garrett Randall (Will Patton).

Garrett's first instinct is to dismiss Jamie by calling himself bad news. But Jamie insists on knowing who his real father is. "I have never known who I was. I've never felt like I was whole. I need to know you, or I will never know myself," Jamie tells him. And then they decide to get coffee. Their exchange is highly emotional and we have not seen the character placed in such a vulnerable state before. So Jamie is really making leaps.

"Jamie is so lost. I feel bad for him," tweeted a fan.

"The character development of Jamie Dutton is unprecedented I have so much hate and love for him it's crazy," added another.

In fact, many fans even disagree with where the writers are taking his character. "The only thing I do not like about @Yellowstone is what they've done w Jamie's character. I hate him being in limbo like this. Wish he could've just been the odd sibling Mama Dutton only loved," tweeted one.

And now, as Jamie's sympathizers support him and his quest to know his real father, his haters aren't exactly looking forward to this plotline, pointing out, in particular, the murder of the journalist from the previous season that he was involved in.

"The only thing Jamie & his biological father have in common is that they both are killers," tweeted a viewer.

"Well, at least Jamie knows why he did what he did to the reporter, now," added another.

So now what do you think? Is it a good time for Jamie to reconnect with his father?

'Yellowstone' will return next Sunday, August 23, 2020, for the finale episode of Season 3.
