Wonder Woman 1984: Pedro Pascal could be playing a 'god in disguise' in the DC sequel

A popular speculation theorizes that the 'Game of Thrones' actor might be portraying the role of Dr. Fate - the villain deriving his powers from Nobu, the god.

The first wave of spoilers from the sequel to the 2017 hit 'Wonder Woman' surfaced just last week with both Patty Jenkins and Gal sharing first-look images of the Amazon warrior and Steve Trevor on social media. With production on the sequel, interestingly titled 'Wonder Woman 1984', in full swing, more details have started making their way to the Internet, and one of the more interesting ones is about actor Pedro Pascal.

Although the Game of Thrones actor's involvement with the movie has been long announced, the character that he portrays is yet to be revealed. But thanks to one of the insiders, it looks like finally some hint about his much-anticipated role might have been unveiled.

If rumors are to be believed, Pascal might be filling in the shoes of a god, of the same legion as Wonder Woman. But the catch is, much like Ares from the first Gadot-starrer, Pascal's godly character could be in hiding.

"I hear Pedro Pascal's character is a God in disguise," writes Twitter user DanielRPK. While dishing on details about the actor's possible role in the comic book adaptation, however, the so-called insider also dismissed a rumor that suggested Pascal's character is masquerading as Steve Trevor.

"Nope. That's the real Steve Trevor," adds the user.

Even if Pascal plays a god in the new movie, it is yet to be known if his character has any antagonistic leaning. A popular speculation theorizes that the 'Game of Thrones' actor might be portraying the role of Dr. Fate - the villain deriving his powers from Nobu, the god.

And if that turns out to be true, Gadot's Wonder Woman might have more than one nemesis to confront when she puts on her armor for the 1984-set sequel. As previously announced, Kristen Wiig is joining the star-studded cast in a villainous role, Cheetah - a character who has frequently crossed paths with the Themysciran princess.

“So excited to confirm the most thrilling news," Jenkins shared via Twitter confirming Wonder Woman 2's villain. "Yes! It’s true. So incredibly lucky to welcome the sensationally talented Kristen Wiig to our Wonder Woman family. Can’t wait to finally work with one of my favorites. And SO excited by what we have planned.”

In the meantime, more details and on-set photos and videos continue to surface online. A recently-emerged video, in fact, teases a riot-like situation in the capital city with Gadot's superhero and Chris Pine-played Trevor trying to take shelter.

'Wonder Woman 1984' arrives in theaters on November 1, 2019.
