Had it not been for the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, 'Wonder Woman 1984' would have released on June 5. But with the world forced to go under lockdown, the film's release was moved to August 14. 'Wonder Woman' fans on Twitter couldn't wait for the sequel to hit cinema screens.

"I HOPE "Wonder Woman 1984" still gets released on August 14!!' a fan tweeted. "Please don't remind me it was supposed to release today," wrote another. One fan clarified that June 5 was not the original date. "Not "originally". This was its second release date change. It was supposed to be out last November," she said. "Cool, I can wait. Looking forward to it! Excited to see how they want to visualize the 80s," a fan exclaimed. "I was so excited since it was going to release originally on my birthday today, Oh well, August can’t come soon enough!" read a tweet.

"Now I want Bond, fast and furious, black widow and wonder woman to be released in the same month," hoped a fan. While there was general excitement, some fans thought August was still too early to assess the situation. "I don't see many going to the theatres even by August. Sure, tons of people are going out to protest but a movie isn't comparable to a centuries-old issue," a fan wrote. "If people are going out to shop etc they will@start going to the movies as well," wrote another.

Here's a tweet from a fan who wanted the big blockbusters to be made available on streaming networks. "The Film Studios should just sell their movies to the Streaming Services like #Netflix #AmazonPrimeVideo #DisneyPlus etc, etc. I'm sorry to say - Cinema is not going to be back to normal for a while folks," the tweet said. "Just release it on a streaming service, WB," another seconded.

Directed by Patty Jenkins, the official synopsis of 'WW1984' reads: "Fast forward to the 1980s as Wonder Woman’s next big-screen adventure finds her facing two all-new foes: Max Lord and The Cheetah." It stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig and Pedro Pascal in integral roles.

'Wonder Woman 1984' will release on August 14, 2020.
