'Fire Country' showrunner Tia Napolitano has a major update on Bode's (Max Thieriot) love life in season 4. Fans have been talking about a potential love story between Bode and newcomer Chloe (Alona Tal), an old friend of Bode. It's worth noting that the two played husband and wife on 'S.E.A.L. Team.'

In an interview with Collider, Napolitano hinted at a romance angle as the fourth season progresses. "We started thinking about this teacher that Bode knew from his past, before all the bad stuff happened, and then knew of him when the bad stuff happened. They have this fondness for each other and this crush that neither of them was ever able to act on because of opportunity," she said, while also adding how Tal landed the role.

"Max just went, ‘Wait a minute, what if Alona could do it? Will they even let us do that?’ And it turns out, not only would they let us do it, but CBS was so excited about it," the showrunner said. "Alona was so excited about it. It was so wonderful having her on set. She said that acting with Max again was like riding a bike. They’re lovely together, and I’m really enjoying them."

She also added that there was a risk element for the Tal and Thieriot's characters on the show. "The way that you’ll see them together feels very easy. It feels like people who knew each other in a past life because they sort of did. In our storytelling, they knew each other as kids, which brings a certain sweetness and a certain amount of wish fulfillment."

"What if your crush walked into your life now and you both happened to be available? What would happen? We’re leaning into the innocence and magic and ease that exists between those two people. There’s definitely an element of risk when it comes to Bode and Chloe. They’ll have to weigh their decisions very carefully because there is Tyler in the mix," Napolitana said.

The fourth instalment has seen some major revelations. Earlier, it was shown that Landon (Josh McDermitt) was the party responsible for the Zabel Ridge fire, which killed Bode's father, Vince. To add, he's broken up with Chloe, and now has a romance with Bode as the next storyline. Only time will tell how things pan out for Chloe and Bode after what has been a tough ride for the duo in their own ways.

'Fire Country' season 4 resumes on CBS in 2026.
